For cartomizers, you need to pop the end off and slip out the 0-ring. The first time you do this it's a little stiff, and you need some sort of tool (I use a crochet hook) which I guess makes it more difficult that 3 pieces. However, I've had the chance to use a 3 piece now, and the simple fact that the cart part cannot be sat down with the opening on top (it has a whistle tip that makes that impossible) makes it more 'difficult' to me than a cartomizer, and all in all both are easy enough as makes no difference to me in the end.

Educate me here how in the world would filling a cart be less messy than filling a 3 pc. I can fill a 3pc in a second I doubt you can fill a cart in a second. The problem is the freq I have to fill a 3 pc.

I'm not sure how you're filling a 3 piece in a second. Which 3 piece? I used the M401 and it it was more messy because of having to remove the filler, fill a tiny cart, replace filler, etc.

I can't fill a carto in a sec because it's bigger, holds more juice and lasts longer because of that.

So you don't have to put the cart back on? Why did you need to take it off if it doesn't have to be put back on?

Just trying to get the apples to apples goin' here.

With a manual battery, it's pop end-cap and oring out (in same motion), drip juice on batting (as much as you want up to the max, in order to make it apples-to-apples, I'd use the same amount), cram oring and endcap back on with same motion. Notice since it was a manual, I didn't even bother to remove it from the battery.

This is, of course, not taking full advantage of the capabilities of the unit (ie. filling up half a day's worth of juice in one shot) but is demonstrating that it's every bit as fast.

Because of this topic I went out and ordered different batteries, My orginal purchase was the manual regular batteries with the manual pt. I love the PT fact I ordered another and set it up on a powered usb unit near my tv chair.

My new order included a auto regular length and a manual extra long. I'm really digging the auto because I can just puff and also I can hold it my fingers like my old analogs. A comforting feelings, because of needing to push a button I held the manuals differntly. That just might be me. The extra long manual does seem better on refills. On the PT the refills seemed fine but on the regular battery performance seemed to go down fast. Not the case so far with the extra long I have.

My vote is going to be with the folks that like auto's for new carts. Manual extra long for the refilled carts. I haven't ruined any batteries but seems safer to use a sealed one for refilled. I'm going to try an auto PT next.
