Hey guys. I'm trying to look for a good starter kit for my father.
Let me give you a quick background. He's been smoking for 30+ years, not technological at all (doesn't even know how to use a computer) owns a galaxy s1. He's tried e-cigarettes before, mainly the disposable blu.

I'm trying to get him something compact that he can start with and that is a step up from the blu's. I was looking at the I stick mini, I don't think he needs something super powerful. I figure if I get him something that can work for a bit then move him up in power if the need arises.

Thanks guys

With regards to size you may want to consult him further or best get a couple diff sizes in his hands at a vape shop. If his hands are large a small device may be problematic for him. If his eyesight isn't that good anymore, a small screen may be a deal-breaker. There is a lot to consider and you want to make the best choices possible to ensure he will give it a good try and maybe even quit smoking, let alone wasting your hard earned cash on somthin' that doesn't really work for him(but he'll just use it when you're around).
Cheers, all the best on your quest, good luck!

Here is a word of advise. Most long term smokers have quit many times. It hard because of the strong addictive properties of cigarettes and the learned behavior from previous tries and the media barrage confirming that fact. Emphasize he is moving to a better form of enjoyment that is safer not headed for a huge struggle. I started vaping with the intention of cutting down and being able to vape in areas that were restricted. It happened on it's own. It may take a day or months. Sit back and enjoy the ride! I can still remember my last cigarette. I lit it and said to myself this tastes lousy the heck with it. Vaping full time ever since.

That being said get him to a good vape shop to handle different devices. The hand to mouth habit is a great part of the ritual. Size and shape matters. Also he can sample liquid before buying and get the correct nicotine strength for him.

My dad was a real hardcase and getting him to quit was like pulling eye teeth - difficult and painful. If your dad is anything like mine then you and your sister may have a long row to hoe if he's not ready or willing to transition from analogs. I think your best bet is to take him to a local brick and mortar shop and have him test different mods and juices. Every shop I've been to has been helpful in that regard. Good luck!

I agree, if you can get him interested in making the vaping journey, instead of just dropping something in his lap and say go to it pops. You will be miles ahead, and much closer to your goal.
Having dad around for longer. Cheers.

Thanks guy's, my dad's pretty stubborn so I figure I'm in for the long haul with helping him overcome his habit.

I think I will have to take him to a B&M shop, but he's been hesitant when I've offered to buy him a starter kit in the past, when he did vape he just said he could buy them at the gas station and it'd be good enough. So once he went back to cigarette's after 6 months I made the resolve to try and find him something that will be a good healthier alternative and that he would enjoy using. So even though I've looked around, buying blindly may just be fruitless, now to get him into a local shop so I can see what he would be interested in the most.

I really appreciate all the help guys!

Kivrin has the right idea there

When I started (on Blus), everything was online only. Then I tried again via Totally Wicked (again, online). Didn't really "take" until I started frequenting Sweet Vapes

As for size: I used to think eGos were silly big. Now I'm puffing on a Sigelei Legend, and planning on getting an Innokin 134. Tastes change as we go, even for old farts

It's got to be easy for him to make the switch so how you get him set up is important. The thing that I've kept in mind with the folks I turned onto vaping is they are used to pulling the smoke out of the pack and flick their bic. If it gets to complicated they just give up.

Tanks with bottom coils I believe are key and having two devices is a must or the battery will die and smokes will fill the void during charging. Personally I've moved away from the enclosed batteries and suggest small form factor 18650 and the Kanger subtank mini or nano with 1.2Ω coils. A couple batteries, battery cases for the spares and a two bank charger and they are always ready to rock.

Just a different perspective.
