... she doesn't know why I would continue to vaporize after with the no nicotine juices. I tried to give her the O'Doul's non-alcoholic beer reference, but I'm not sure if she got that one. Any help to explain would be great as I am out of words. :p
I'll probably continue to vape even after I get to 0mg nic level because I enjoy the flavours and the experience. Once you get started vaping yourself, and find some really tasty juices, then you'll understand and can explain it better to the missus. One other thing... when you're vaping the no nicotine juices, there's nothing stopping her from taking a toot or two and letting her experience it for herself.

she doesn't know why I would continue to vaporize after with the no nicotine juices. I tried to give her the O'Doul's non-alcoholic beer reference, but I'm not sure if she got that one.

As a recovering alcoholic that reference works and doesn't, on one hand having a beer in hand would be huge trigger, but the crappy taste would probably do the opposite. Lol.

That's one of the reasons (along with advice on here) that I went with an ego off the bat and avoided tobacco flavors is I don't want to associate vaping with smoking. I think a a tobacco favored cigalike would have had the same effect as odouls for me. Lol.

Hope everything works out for ya! I know my limited experience vaping has been fantastic, and 5 days no cigs and no real bad cravings!

Good luck!

@Susiejo

Now you tell me about the potential of breaking....

And after explaining what these are my wife seems to be on track with me stopping the smoking habit, but she doesn't know why I would continue to vaporize after with the no nicotine juices. I tried to give her the O'Doul's non-alcoholic beer reference, but I'm not sure if she got that one. Any help to explain would be great as I am out of words. :p

I'd say don't try to explain based on enjoyment or flavor, but rather, reminding her that relapses happen to a lot of people who quit. I plan to keep going on vaping when I am down to zero and I am down to 5 mg of nic now. If I recall all the times I quit in the past and the reasons (excuses) I had to start back up, I can say I believe if I had been vaping or had the option to vape I would not have started up on analogs again. I have found myself in smoking situations after I was 100% vaping and because I had my hardware and juice at the ready I am not tempted.

htown, once you get your starter kit, the juice is the real unknown. When I started I went to the trash pile and purchased loads of everybody elses "didn't like" or "don't wants". That way I could try lots of flavors for next to nothing. Once I hit on Cinnamon I never looked back. Then I found my whole family full of smokers to give/sell the juice I didn't want/need anymore. Most of my 3 year vaping career I DIY'ed my own eliquid. That's really how I stopped vaping. I got concerned I was vaping too much Cinnamon, (when not working I vaped continuously), so I made a batch leaving the flavoring out. After 24 hours I discovered I'd accidently also left the nicotine out. Decided who needs it. That was the beginning of the end of my vaping career. Then it was just a matter of breaking the "oral gratification" hand to mouth addiction. Feb 6th was my last vape. I'm a quitter. Good luck with your quit. JMHO

Cheers,
otrpu

The Kanger Protank will work fine on the set up your getting. It is Pyrex glass so it can handle any juice, I use it for my cinnamon.
It is a bit more expensive than other tanks but it is worth it, it also has replaceable heads so when the coil or wicks go out all you have to do is replace the head and it is like having it brand new. This is the cheapest I have found them, I ordered 2 from here.

http://.........blogspot.com/2013/04/low-kanger-pro-tank-1405.html

I think the replacement heads run about $2. These are the replacement heads I bought, I recommend the 2.2 ohm heads for your set up.

Kanger ProTank & Davide Replacement Head - 2.2ohm 1 PC [gv-ProTankReplacementHead-2.2ohm] - $1.65 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

Hope that helps.

wassup htown, fellow houstonian here. =)

you can tell your wife... the act of smoking is something you become accustomed to, its something you do with your hands, theres an oral fixation, the blowing of smoke, the smoking culture, all that seems to be as addictive as the nicotine, it is the enjoyable part. by switching to ecigs, you are removing the dangerous, unhealthy part. i hope she learns to be proud of you, for you are making the leap of faith, educating yourself, and being willing to try something new. thats not nothing!

there is a 'dark truth about ecigarettes' infographic floating around here, with some good info she might be interested in... something like only 6% of smokers actually quit, less than 1 in 10. consider that the odds are very much against you that you are going to be that special 1 in 10 that makes it. therefore, better that you are pulling the old switcheroo, cheating the odds, than being the 90% who chokes on those things till they die.

good luck! im down on the southwest side, in case you happen to be down here too and want to meet up. =)

Hahahah, Greetings Htown from the southwest side of Houston. Not laughing at you just that I've been there. No one was more of a committed smoker that me. If I were you I'd start with bigger batteries and variable voltage given how much you smoke. If I had it to do over again that where I would start. Electronic Cigarette / eGO Spinner Variable Voltage Starter Kit - Quality ecigs from Aqua Vapor Cig Atlanta, Ga I'd pick the T3 tanks. Keep in mind, it might be more that you want to spend but think of how much you will save after you aren't buying cigarettes. Job 1 is get off of cigs, best of luck.

also just FYI, ejuice is very tricky business. there is plenty out there that will be just terrible, unvapable (and it might just turn out to be someone elses favorite! taste in ejuice is a wierd thing). the trick is finding a vendor or three that you can tolerate, and then narrowing down the flavors you like. i hope you like what you bought even a little bit. if it turns out you cant stand it, pm me and ill hook you up. =)

I am also a newbie 2months into cigarettes are easier just lite up and smoke it will be trial and error you can do a lot of homework youtube vids and still be overwhelmed I was a smoker for 30yrs never tried the patch tried that little nicotine pill not a very pleasant taste if you look on how much have you spent on it it will show you ive tried several items I personally would start on egowinder w/ variable voltage (2) one charges while you vape on the other one about 3 hour charge time a couple of iclear 16 clearomiser so you can clean them out and add new juice a charger look for a vape store near you talk to them try there juice buy small juice bottles close to you so if you run out there close not 711 check out pbusardos vids one of my personal favorites ecblends help desk @ ecblends flavor shop dot com and good luck

I love it when married people remind me why I enjoy being single...

No need to worry about why you might vape 0mg juice down the road man. There's a reason folks who have successfully kicked an addiction say "One day at a time." :)

There's also a reason they say "Progress, not perfection."

Well its more I understand where she is coming from, her father died from smoking so she just doesn't want to lose me the same way. I am an idiot for doing it and I just want to stop now to make things better in her mind. I think once she understands what and how it works, she will have a slight change of tune. Just the other day she ask if I had ordered the "stuff", so I know she is getting more understanding of it. I think I might show her the infographic posted by Onion456. Alot of good info!

Living in Houston you have a ton of local shops, both gourmet and not, available to you. If nothing else you can browse their wares and get samples, and tips and tricks from the people who work there and are dedicated to helping people like you. I wouldn't recommend a cig-a-like type as they generally suck and would deter just about anybody from permanently switching to vaping.

As others have mentioned, I'd suggest an EGO style battery with a decent clearomizer tank setup. A Clearomizer is a small clear tank with some wicks and a heating element inside of it. But for ease of use and maintenance I'd recommend just about any of the Kanger line, as their heads are very easy to replace, and generally don't have alot of leaking issues and so forth.

A Cartomizer is fairly easy to use, and they may recommend them to you. But they come with their own inherent costs and problems, such as bad taste, hard to clean/rebuild, and needing to be repurchased to replace every couple weeks (what store wouldn't want to sell these!?).

An atomizer would be a good way to go if you're good with electronics. Easy to maintain/rebuild if you have a multimeter and some good knowledge. They're also the cheapest option in the long run as you can just buy some wire and wick materials and have them last indefinately. But they generally incur more startup cost.

On a side note, I love the part of your story where you talk about sneaking off to the store, etc to sneak a smoke. I used to do the exact same thing to hide it from my now-ex wife. I even took a job delivering pizzas because i could smoke on the deliveries and be good by the time I got home. I had a system for properly venting my smoke so the car doesn't stink haha.

Hope I could be of some help. And best of luck to you on your journey (as vaping does seem to require a small degree of luck).

I use the Ego twist and a Kanger mini I baught at "smoke and more" but there juice is hit or mis. I defently agreee with what others have said about the EGO and Kanger clearomizer. I have been smoking for 30 years and tried quiting several times. started vaping and cut my analogs way back today is Day 1 for me of no analogs.
Best of luck to us Both. "One day at A time" and "Celebrate every Analog not smoken".

Haha I liked your last part of the post... hilarious. Just this evening I went to go help my brother move some stuff in his storage and my wife texted me, "not done at smokeville?".... she is so funny when she wants to be.

Anyways is there maybe a diagram showing the different parts of the e-cigarettes and vaporizers? I'm sure I could easily look it up on google, but I am lazy right to do so. I just thought maybe someone had a link to images and info that maybe could not be googled, similar to the infographic provided earlier. I think I will be successful with this as I just do not smoke enough or have that craving constantly like some do or how I used to.... it is more out of boredom sometimes.... so I think I can make this work.

The Bull Smoke has a good cheap starter kit,but be warned it wont take long to out grow the cigalikes and want to get something more reliable and cost effective. (Thats how i found this site)

Ditto on the 'out grow'... Do yourself a favor and at least start out with an eGo setup to begin with -- longer battery life and a lot better array of atomizers, tanks, etc to go with them...

Hi everyone :) I am a newbie and have been looking at an ego kit and I need some help.

On the kit that I would like to purchase it say's " the included Ce4 Clearomizer tank is consumable, and will need to be replaced approx. every 4 days to a week under normal usage."
Is there a tank that would last say two weeks? Are all tanks consumable?

Trying to kick the habit of smoking and have a Vapor4life Diamond kit coming but after much thought I'm thinking I bought the wrong item.
Have been smoking 30 years and this time I really want to quit so getting the right product is important. My Mom died 4 years ago from Lung Cancer and 8 years ago I had a spontaneous pneumothorax. The surgeons were not sure if it was caused from my weight (110 5'6") so not a lot of room for my lungs or from smoking. They could not give me a definitive answer. I quit smoking for a period but picked the habit back up. Bad, I know! I did put the needed weight on though.

I am really sick of smoking but I am going to need my nicotine fix as a 30 year smoker. :)

I live 75 miles from the nearest brick and mortar vapor shop so it's hard for me to just walk into a shop and ask questions and get an understanding of what I need, how long they last etc.

Any help is appreciated. :D

There are tanks that last far, far longer than two weeks. Even just moving up to the CE5 (which I'm using), I haven't bought a new one at all this summer. And the ones I bought before that were because I wanted extras to hold more flavors.

Yeah, looked it up. Bought them in May.

The CE5 looks like the CE4 but can be easily disassembled, cleaned up, reused. Also the coil head (which is the "heater" that vaporizes the juice) is replaceable and inexpensive (I get mine for $3). The CE4 is just not a great clearomizer. I have one. In a drawer. Somewhere. :)

But there are plenty of better ones out there. Like the Kanger EVOD which is recommended all the time around here. I use Vision CE5 (also sometimes called "2.0" and other names... the terms are confused). Vision makes a Vivi Nova that's popular here. Many others that'll last you a great deal longer.

A kit I think is a good "starter" is like the one MyVaporStore put together here: Spinner/Twist Combo. The Joye Twist (which I use) and the Vision Spinner are both good batteries. You can get the Kanger EVOD and the Vision "Ego Clearomizer 2.0" (which is the one I'm using that is sometimes called CE5 or CE4+ or it's all confused... either way, that's the one that I'm getting months of use out of).

Trying to kick the habit of smoking and have a Vapor4life Diamond kit coming but after much thought I'm thinking I bought the wrong item.

I don't have any experience with Vapor4Life. Maybe others can chime in?

I just noticed they are a Forum Supplier so they're known here at ECF. Their section is here: Vapor4Life. Myself, I don't care for the "cig-a-like" style (which I started with and have come to dislike very much) and I understand they use 808 threading (I think) which limits what you can buy (the 808 standard seems to be losing ground against eGo/510).

Still, they have their fans and supporters. Since they do have a section here devoted to them, that could help you get advice and tip from others that have Vapor4Life kits. So... I dunno. It could work out fine for you. Different setups work for different folks.

Well, you've come to the right place. I was a 30+ year smoker who stumbled and bumbled into vaping largely by accident. I learned a ton on ECF and now it's been months since I bothered with a cigarette. And I was a two pack a day smoker. I'm still a little stunned. Nobody thought I'd quit. Especially not me.
