I am new to all of this so I have no idea about how to get started.

I have been reading lots and honestly it is all a bit confusing. I realize the need to be careful if you DIY and I want to be sure before I give this a try but I'd love to save a few $$ in juice if I could.

I'm wondering if I just got some unflavored juice with the nicotine mg I am now using, all I would need to add is flavors. Is this correct? How much flavor would you start out using? I know this will vary with personal taste but what would be a good starting point say for a 10 ml bottle? I want to start out simple then maybe someday I can venture into sometime more when I know more about what I am doing.

Are you looking for a device? Juice? Or both? Not sure why I'm saying this but if your just starting out with vaping, I'd at least order enough pre-made juice to get me through the DIY learning curve. I wish I could be of more help, but I've never tried DIY.

I hate to be all unoriginal and recommend the Itaste MVP, but for $60 ish bucks you will have a device, and something that holds your juice. It's pretty tough to beat for that price. Very dependable, and insane battery life.

No, sorry, that's not correct. Any flavoring you add is going to lower the nic. Some flavorings are super concentrated and will lower it only a little, some flavorings are not so concentrated and need as much as 20% and I've even heard 30%.

Download one of the calculators and play around a bit. Just make fake recipes with different percentages and you'll see what I mean.
This one is online- DIY Simple E-Liquid (E-Juice) Recipe Calculator Check the menu to the left and play around with the different ones too. I usually use the one that says 10 flavors plus PG/VG adjusting. There are a few downloadable ones but I can't use them because my computer is an old jerk.

You need to do a lot of reading. Start with the stickies at the top of this forum.
No, it is not as simple as adding some flavors. Mixing juice is an art at takes a lot of trial and error.
Just spend a lot of time reading this forum for a bit before you go off and buy a bunch of stuff.

Edit: good downloadable ejuice calculator: http://www.ejuice.breaktru.com/

Thanks Glasseye! This is what I was looking at buying Nicotine - Unflavored Nicotine Your Way - E Cig eGo, E juice, Mods, Cartomizers, Liquid Nicotine, DIY Flavorings but I wasn't sure how that worked.

If you're going to start with simple single flavors, I recommend the VZSC line or the Gourmet line, especially if you're buying from them anyway, one shipping charge. The Blackberry VZSC is very good as are some of the tobaccos. Say you get 18mg in whatever pg/vg ratio and you add 2.5% of SC blackberry, your final product will be 17.55mg nic. Not too bad of a loss, probably not enough to notice.

Get on their mailing list if you're not already, they have sales about twice a month. More $$ savings.

But like cookiebun said, read and read some more. Nothing brings it home like just doing it though. :)

+2 on the eJuice Me Up Calc. I've tried several of them, this is the one I settled on for my DIY.

Also as suggested, do the research yourself. There are endless threads on ECF to learn about DIY from, the how's, why's and what for's. With a basic knowledge it is easy to get started, and if you did enough research not that hard to get good juice right from the start.

A good starting point would be to read my blogs

And hoosiers blogs

Thanks again Glasseye! I will continue reading and reading some more. I do realize there is a LOT to this but I am wanting to start out slow, very slow. The calulator you posted did help a lot and thanks for the suggestions.

I might add what others have said- Read until you cant read anymore.. I would also suggest starting with a single flavor and test very small amounts like 1-2 ml at a time in separate bottles. let them steep awhile before trying.. But please read what others have mentioned..

Just to add my 2 cents, That price for 50ml of nic is kind of expensive. If you go to Wizard Labs web site you can get the same nic juice for $'s cheaper. Many on here buy their nic from them and you can buy the flavoring from them too, as well as other products.
My nic level is about 12% to 16% mg so I buy the 24%mg nic and by the time you add flavoring and sweetener and distilled water it's just about right between 12 and 16. Like others have mentioned get the eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator calculator .

Good Luck,

Russ.

I second rustafar; those prices are ridiculous.
For simple math, guessing you like 50/50 pg/vg, you could pick up 36mg/ml PG, and straight VG, mix in equal parts, and have 18mg, 50/50 for infinitely less, and still not have to deal with math or anything terribly dangerous (100mg/ml freaks me out a bit).

My only advice is buy more base than you think you need, and more bottles. You'll want to have multiple batches going at once (5% flavor, 8% flavor, 10% flavor) and steeping.
I mix 5ml batches, especially with multiple flavors, because measuring .05ml of a flavor is already tough enough (1% of a 5ml batch).

Also, buy a notebook and take lots of notes; you'll want to be able to repeat the few recipes that you like.

Good luck
