Got my Tornado from Totally Wicked with LR Atomizer today. Filled the cartridge with VG Cherry Cola zero nicotine and was ready to take a puff.

The taste is AWFUL!!! Tastes burnt and bitter...nothing like with my DSE-901. It feels like Tornado runs so hot that it burns e-liquid taste. I also tried tobacco prefilled cartomizers but 18mg nicotine is too much for me and I don't like tobacco taste they're using with prefilled cartomizers.

Any similar experiences? Am I doing something wrong?

P.S. My next thread will be....how to clean and refill TW Prefilled Cartomizers :)

First, the regular 510 atomizer at 2.1-2.3 ohms is sometimes too hot for fruit and berry flavors. It's Much better suited for the stronger tobacco and coffee flavors, whereas the 901 does fruit and berry rather well.

Then, using an LR atomizer on top of that makes it even worse for the light flavors. Then there's many reports on how the cherry flavor is not easily done and horribly done in many cases. Just search 'cherry' in the forum search engine.

It isn't the Tornado as much as it is the LR atty and perhaps flavor in this case. You could also get a 510 to 901 adapter and use the 901 atty or get a higher ohmed atty or cartomizer in 510. Nhalers 510 cartomizer runs at the same ohm as many 901 atomizers - 3.4ohms. Since the cartomizer is a tad wider in diameter, you will either have to leave off the cone or get another cone and ream it out to allow for the airflow.

For cleaning the tobacco flavor from prefilled cartridges - take out the filler and soak it in high proof vodka - squeezing it from time to time and then take out and press dry with a paper towel. That should do it. If not resoak, etc.

Please excuse me adding to this answer at this stage Vets :) -- but I got exactly the same set-up in the post today, with the same issue.

The gear is good, no doubt of that - but it needs to be started off correctly. I had the same issue - very hot vapor and all the wrong taste for the cart I put on (which was basically ruined and had to be cleaned out).

Solution: the next LR atty, I knew what to do:

1. Shake/blow out the primer.
2. Drip 2 drops of liquid direct onto the bridge.
3. Fit an EMPTY cart, with no filler or liquid.
4. Puff it strongly 6 or 7 times and exhale, don't inhale it. This burns off any primer remaining.
5. Drip 1 drop on the bridge.
6. Fit a new, full cart.
7. Sorted.

:)

And by the way, if you fit the cone, it seems to me to restrict the airflow as it's a very tight fit, so that may not help with this particular issue as the vapor might heat more. I hacksawed 3mm off the top of mine - but then I like a good free airflow. A Dremel disc cutter is a much better method though, but make sure to wear eye protection.
