I have been interested in this since I burned my tank carto as soon as I got it :(. I vape 70% PG 30% VG and was wondering if that is a good mix or does it matter? I looked at the labels on my V4L juice and another and there isn't a 'rating' on how they vape...What I'm getting at is there a way to tell if your juice will not do well in a tank before the burning nasty taste becomes a reality?
Hope this makes sense:oops:

Plant, as I said in my thread I thought I had burned my tank too. The spearmint I put in (though there were other issues with it) seemed to roast a bit using a manual stealth. Spearmint is a fairly thin juice though. I can tell you I'm having excellent luck with Peacemaker which is quite a bit thicker. I'd suggest using a thick juice and see how it shakes out. Good luck! Hope you're up and running soon. I have no doubt you'll love the tank! :)

I think we need some more experimentation on this issue plant. Snow, I always defer to yours and M's expertise, but I'm not so sure about this:

For any 3.7v device like the V4L batteries, a 1.5 DVCT or DCT willl work just fine. The only time you will have to worry about juices is when you vape on higher voltage PVs such as the 5v OMG.

As I've said, I think I was roasting spearmint juice in mine. Then I had success with Peacemaker. Just last night a friend brought over his newly bought 6ml tank and I showed him how to fill it. We put premium grape in it and made absolutely sure to saturate the cart. On the "dry hit" phase he brought in quite a bit of juice into the cart from the tank to the point of getting a little leakage out of the bottom and we topped it off with 10+ drops. The taste was burned. We were only using a manual stealth and a diamond auto with the tank. No PT or mod to get up to 5v.

When taking off the drip tip and looking into the cart, it was saturated and still completely white. No discoloration. The smell of the cart was definitely grape. No trace of burnt smell. We continued to play with it and still had the same results, so I'm thinking that we were just roasting the juice.

My theory is that only juices with a thicker consistency will work with the tank for some unknown reason. Of course I don't have any real proof of this so I'd be very interested to know - what is everyone else using in the tanks and what have your results been?

I'm using WOW Peppermint in my one tank. It is a medium heavy juice and works quite well. I seem to get more of the Peppermint taste using the tank and get twice the vapor and throat hit with the tank over a cart. I learned quite soon to take small puffs rather than the long draw as I did with the carts, othewise I get a nic overload pretty fast. Using 18MG and thinking of going down a notch on my next order.

You know Chadr....I think you are right, Plant forget what I said because it maybe in error for the juices you and Chadr are specifically using. However, "thicker" may not be truly accurate so much as "other". Every juice is different, some can handle the heat while others can fall apart at higher voltages. Generally once you get into the 10w+ range is where you find out how much heat a juice can take.

So plug in the following numbers to the Ohms Calculator below:

Let's look at a 5V Passthrough using a Wow Carto 2.2 ohm or Cool Cart at 3.3 ohms (cartos can vary greatly in what is stated and what the actual ohms are, although Dual Cartos are pretty consistent)

So Voltage 5...........then resistance 2.2 and 3.3. respectively

5v with a 2.2 ohm Carto come out to 11.36w...and we know Wow Cartos are pretty hot on a PT.
5v with a 3.3 ohm Carto come out to 7.57w

On batteries 4.2v and 2.2 or 3.3 and you get 8.01w and 5.34w respectively

Now plug in 4.2v and 1.5 ohms and you get 11.76w

http://www.ohmslawcalculator.com/ohms_law_calculator.php

I
have mentioned before that if 1.5ohm is too hot, get yourself a 2.0, still not right, then try a 2.5 ohm Dual Carto for use with juices that you feel are falling apart. I have no experience with Spearmint per se, but if it is in the Premium Line then it is a sister juice to Grape meaning it has little to no VG in it all. I do have some grape so I will load it up and see how it does, but I do vape RY4 another sister juice from the premium line and it does fine at 4.2v on a 1.5ohm DCT.

If you load up some Wow 555 which by definition is a thicker juice (VG added), you'll find that the flavor is getting pushed to it's limit and lightly scorches at 4.2v on 1.5 ohm DCT muting the flavor.

So certain juice may indeed fall apart....as well, flooding a carto can also mimmick a juice not tasting right as juice basically starts cooking on the atomizer instead of becoming vapor. Are 1.5 ohm DCTs accepted for use with 3.7v unregulated devices? Yes. Does that hold true for every juice? Nope

You may want to take a look at another discussion on this subject on this post...

Personally I would get a hold of some 2.0 and 2.5 Dual Cartos for tanks and find what works best for you by matching your go-to juice with the proper Ohm cartomizer.

This is why Morandir's testing numbers are so incredibly important....The proper wattage with the right juice equals The Perfect Vape.

Thanks Snow sir. :)

Compiling a list of what juice has the potential to handle the higher wattage. Just takes some time. My time in Chicago wasn't all fun and games everyone, just increased what I needed to test. Going into some more detailed info on the tanks at some point this week. There is a difference in using the metal to plastic tanks. Comes down to the o-rings and what the tank is made out of.

Wanted to bump plant's thread here now that people have had some time to get the tanks and experiment with them. What other juices are people using? I'm particularly interested because I've had bad luck with both premium spearmint and grape tasting burned and I'm trying to narrow down if it was my own mistake or the juice itself just roasting. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this or had success with those juices. Any info is helpful.

P.S. - I love the 3.5 tank! It just gives such a great hit and flavor. I'm so pleased with the results with Peacemaker that I'm going to get another one so I'm trying to scout out what flavor I'll use for it. Anyone used #7 in one so far?
