OK, it's been one month since I bought my first e-cig (3 weeks analog-free). I went through my email receipts today and tallied it all up and found I'd spent $320 on e-cig materials. I have read that most people spend heavily early on, and am wondering if this is typical. Also, what is your experience going forward? I keep telling myself that I've got what I need now and should be set (save for juice and cartos) going forward, but who knows...

Anyway, in case you are curious, here's where the money went:
$110 on my NJOY NPRO at a local gas station. Ill-informed first puchase. 2 batts w/chargers, 15 replacement cartos (25% of which were DOA).
$30 on non-NJOY RN4081 cartos (call this throwing good money after bad)
$70 on eGo starter kit and juice (now we're getting somewhere)
$30 on more juice after finding a couple to my taste (still have most on-hand)
$8 on an adapter to use those RN4081 cartos on my eGo
$27 on LR cartos (now we're REALLY getting somewhere)
$10 on a Riva 510 battery (figured I'd need a third batt, why not try the Riva)
$15 on an eGo carry case
$20 for more juice and a syringe

I'd typically spend about $250 a month on analogs ($8.50 a pack where I live), so if I limit my spend to juice for the next couple of months, I'll be ahead. Already drooling over some of the mod kits out there, though.

If you don't get carried away like some of us and have to have every new toy, carto, tank etc that comes along then your initial $320 isn't bad. If you like what you have then the juice and extra cartos and batteries will be a lot less especially if you space out your spending. If you spend $100 a month on replenishing your supplies you'll still come out ahead.

I just quit a month and a half ago, I got my first kit from a friend. But since then I don't want to think about what I have spent. First buying and trying cartos, then atomizers, drip tips, ego t batteries(longer battery life) and of course juice. It feels like a never ending cycle. Don't want to think about what I have spent in this initial period of time.
Of course, my first three weeks i kept telling my wife that my Ego T batteries were enough for me, then I ended up ordering a silver bullet. I also keep buying juices. I want to try them all!!!! I have about 5-7 tobacco flavors I like to vape throughout the day, but I do enjoy vaping something different at least 2 or 3 times a day. I have now settled on the Ikenvape atomizers and have gotten better at dripping. Now that I have my mod, I can see that eventually my expenses will go down. I know I will need more atomizers(want to try the io6!) and I know I will eventually want some other batteries for 5v or 6v vaping and of course I am still ordering lots of different juices. So for now, expenses are lowering, but not by much!!!

...at this point...2mos on...I have spent around 500bux...since I was spending at least 400bux/mos on the funkies and have gear/juice that would last another month+ I am certainly ahead of the game..........

I guess I should have stated, this is for 3 people and includes 4 Riva kits, an ePower a half dozen bundles of cartos from CCV and the rest in juices.......

My first day, I spent 213.89. My first month, I spent 248.28.

Over the three months I've been vaping, I've spent $425.22 on vaping "stuff". That's batteries, juice, cartomizers/atty's, etc, including delivery fees. That's 141.74 a month over 3 months, but I won't average that high long run unless I'm buying mods. When I was smoking, I was spending over $300 a month on cigs.

During most of that 3 months, I was still smoking, and I've done some math and can guess that I'm about $200 a head comparing what I was spending before, and what I've spent over those three months. Now that I'm off the cigs, and stocked up on vaping stuff, I expect to be saving a fair amount. And I expect to put some of that savings into a VV mod before long.

When figuring what you spent on PVs, starting out I think it's fair to throw out your first mistake or two. For the OP the $110 for a NJOY NPRO and another $30 for cartos for the same. Subtract that from the $320 and the cost for starting was $180, and a $140 lesson in comparison shopping :)

If you were trading on the stock market, you drop the non-winners and stick with the good investments paying yearly dividends. And not losing sleep on the trades that didn't work out....

"Typical first month expenditure?"

Well, I guess if nothing else, this thread shows me that my wife and I are not quite 'typical'. Looking for the bright side tho, I guess we could call ourselves 'overachievers'? lol ( It's all her fault. You know how women are about shopping. She's a baaaad influence )

We started with mall kiosk crapola, and you know how pricey that is... Next day we found a vape store nearby. Upgraded to eGo-T's and a bunch of carto's and probably a bucket of juice. Fast forward 2 months, upgraded to ProVari's with all the necessary and nice to have extras.

So we're in to this for about $900 and change for hardware, but we should be set for quite a while, and from here on, all we should be needing will be carto's and juice, with the rare replacement 18650 battery.

Yeah, it sounds like a lot, but remember, we buy everything X2. And when we look at the expenditure and think of how much better we feel... Well, a few hundred bucks apiece seems like a steal.

If I had to all to do over again, knowing what I know now, I'd have plunked down the $500 on day one for the ProVari's and been done with it. But hindsight is 20/20. Overall: No regrets.

Yeah, if I knew then what I know now, I'd have bought a Buzz Pro, a liquinator or similar tank, and a bunch of Boba's Bounty. Add batteries and a charger, and that would have been great.

But, that being said, if I'd been told "You need to spend over $200 to get started", I'd have walked away. I didn't expect it to work, and wouldn't have considered spending that much.

With DIY I am down to $6 a month in juice. I usually allow myself $100 for Mods and other hardware but I don't order every month. Doing good though. Almost at 2 years vaping and spent just under $2000 total. If I had been smoking/dipping I would of spent double that easy. Short of ordering some flavoring, I am set for about 6 months.
