U.S. Federal Government vs. "Common Sense" vs. You

Please indulge me as I step onto my soapbox for a few moments as I'm getting a little irritated by all the blame being spread around on this forum.

It seems to me that everyone is out there blaming Big Tab, Big Pharm, and yes, even the US e-cig/vape suppliers for what the Feds/FDA are about to do. IMO, this is WRONG! I'm sorry, but the blame lies with the perfectly-content-until-something-I-really-really-care-about-is-effected person we all see in the mirror every morning.

GOOD!
YouTube - The Second American Revolution

BETTER!
YouTube - We The People Stimulus Package
FYI - I don't agree with ALL of the video's points.
Example 1: Electoral College - I think we need it
Example 2: Universal Service - Not "required", but maybe as a requirement to vote (along with constitutional tests)

The Constitution doesn't grant us our rights; we were born with them (this is the essence of The Declaration Of Indepedence). The Constitution essentially tells government what they can/can't do with our rights. Our rights don't come from government; government's rights come from us. Sadly, most of us have either forgotten this or we were never taught it.

"The people should never fear their government, the government should fear its people." So why do we fear them and they don't fear us? Complacency, Fearfulness, Selfishness, Laziness, Stupidity, Irresponsibility; take your pick.

Big Tab and Big Pharm are just collections of companies. A company's goal is to make a profit and ultimately to survive/succeed (for it's employee's and shareholder's sake).

And to these uber large companies, this is just game and they're just trying to "win". The problem is that we are not enforcing the rules of the game that we are supposed to be officiating. Most of us are just referees sitting in bleachers saying "Did you see that" and yelling "Hey, that's not fair", all while shrinking our individual and collective responsibilities. [Or a more colorful analogy -- If your dog is waking you up every Saturday by taking a dump on your face, it's not the dog's fault.]

I'm not saying I'm an example to follow as I'm just as guilty as anyone else. BUT truth is TRUTH no matter how hypocritical it may be.

Thanks for your time and comments,

Dan

We the Vapors of the United States of America, in Order to form a more perfect Vaporizer, establish Juices, insure domestic Trading, provide for the common defense, promote the general mods, and secure the Blessings of Nicotine to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

hehe

We the people are the "owners" of the country here and DO control what is happening.
All of us are prepared to continue to vape and and keep our guns and what ever right we want or already have. I say to any and all "official" to suck it and lick my a**.

We can do what we want just don't be stupid about it and don't get caught. Smoke all the weed ya got, snort all the coke, and shoot all the smack. Do what you want, just dont hurt any others and please by all means control yourself. Use in moderation so you don't go crazy.

I am not promoting anything here, but please let it be known.
You control your life and your own destiny. If it is illegal to buy juice, we will still vape right? So do so and keep doing so.

sorry I just woke up!

Commas can go either outside or inside the quotation marks. Americans place them inside, and the Brits place them outside. As long as you're consistent, it's correct.

Actually, it's not a matter of consistency. In the U.S., commas always go inside the quotation marks.

Sorry. Couldn't resist. I'm a copy editor.

I believe it's a hold-over from leaded typesetting. Originally, everyone used the more logical UK style, but the US was playing with spelling and suchlike at about the same type mass-market publishing was taking off and they adopted the punctuation-inside-quotes convention while they were about it. Something to do with making the set type more robust, I think.

Sorry, I'm a grammar fiend as well, haha.

Awesome. I learned something new! And I was only kidding anyway. Just trying to add some flavor to the thread.

Who cares where the commas go this is about e-cig and the government taking them away and your worried about where I put my commas. Give me a break.

Hey! I said I was sorry! :-x

But if you want to make your point more effectively, write it this way:

"Who cares where the commas go? This is about e-cigs and the government taking them away--and you're worried about where I put my commas? Give me a break!"

There. That's better.

:p

I really love this place! It's that little place of refuge at the end of the day where I feel like everyone can be civilized in an otherwise uncivilized world.

Sorry I instigated a slight digression from the real topic of this thread.

I agree with everyone on here.

I thought this was a relevant quote by our current President.

"If the people cannot trust their government to do the job for which it exists - to protect them and to promote their common welfare - all else is lost."

That sounds wondrful, if you want the government to protect you from what it feels you need protection from instead of what you want protection from.

I don't want all that protection! Protection is only a excuse to taking away my freedom.

I completely agree with that sentiment. Its been done before, protect us by removing our rights. It doesn't work, it just makes it necessary for more protection of the government. There is no greater way to create a militant opposition than to remove all other solutions from their grasp.
