So, I am diving headfirst into the Realm of vaping, after being a 1 to 1-1/2 pack-a-day smoker of 100-length full-flavor cigarettes.

Started smoking when I was 14, and am now 41. Do the math. That's LOTS of SmokieTreats, as my brother and I have always referred to them.

Smoking is Ingrained in my very Soul... it is a Huge part of who I am. At least in the sense of who I have known myself to be (for the Majority of my Remembered Life). MANY associations/connections to smoking, and NO desire to STOP smoking, if it were not for the fact that it is Going To Kill Me.

(plus it stinks up: Me, my clothes, my hair, my hands... pisses people off Regularly-which I Strangely sort of Enjoy-but I digress... costs Way too much, creates tons of ashes & Blooming Onions in my ashtrays, makes accidental little circular holes in COUNTLESS t-shirts, etc., coughing, Smoker's Eye, Annoying Urges during movies, Long-seeming segments of time DEDICATED to puffing Outside - in the Relentlessly Hot Outdoors...blah, blah, blah.)

But MAINLY... it's the Accelerated Death Factor, & Impending lung/throat/mouth cancer, emphysema & other b.s. that concerns me.

My (84-year-old) father got lung cancer in 1990... Strangely one year AFTER quitting smoking menthols for 42 years... and they carved out a huge lobe of his right lung. And he was diagnosed with C.O.P.D. 3 years ago, and gets short of breath walking to the kitchen (15 feet away). My older brother and I have (Half-jokingly) used the fact that he got his cancer AFTER he quit smoking as an Excuse... "If we Quit: WE'LL GET LUNG CANCER!"

Whatever. Boring, I know. Just sayin.

So, for ME, the idea of still being able to PUFF, while also receiving Nicotine, in the form of Vapor... and Delicious Flavors, with what APPEARS to be a Far Less Damaging (yet still relatively unstudied, Scientifically) delivery method, with all of its other Clear Advantages... I dunno... I guess "No-Brainer" comes to mind.

(Which is right up my alley :p)

SO... enter the "Halo Triton Starter Kit" with all of their (supposedly) great eLiquids/eJuices (what's the difference? I dunno yet. Their site talks about all their "eJuices & eLiquids", but there is no ejuice section... or Product, from what I can tell. Hahaha.) Surely I'm displaying my ignorance, but, quite honestly, it is my hope that... with your help... my Education will facilitate a Smooth Transition from the stinky analogs.

I went ballistic & ordered the Triton Startup Kit, a couple extra clearos, an extra usb charger (to use with the external Mega-battery I bring with me on long bike rides to power my BOOMbox, MP3-player, phone, whatever), pack of Low Resistance cartos, pack of XL cartos (to use with the Cone, since everybody says the regular size is too short with the Triton), some extra coils, and 5 different eLiquids (or eJuices? Ha! You tell me!).

I went ahead and chose my own five separately, cause none of the variety packs sounded 100% to my liking.I took a Leap of Faith, on the Tribeca & Belgian Cocoa - 30ml - 18mg.

+ Kringle's Curse & Cafe Mocha - 7ml - 18mg.
+ Torque56 - 7ml - 24mg.
+ Fusion (flavorless base) - 7ml -36mg. (my thought on that was to add a few drops to the others, and "Spice em up", if the Nic level was too low @ 18mg. - don't know if this will work, but maybe someone Out There will be able to advise ? )

& do I need to mix these in a separate mixing bottle to let em join together properly? Or just, say, 10 drops of Tribeca - 18mg + 3 drops of Fusion - 36mg for kick, then another 7 drops of Tribeca - 18mg in a carto? And mixing two flavors, like Kringle + Belgian Cocoa... could I just try half and half in a clearo, or minitank & sorta slosh it around for a couple minutes? Or should I let em mix/steep for awhile when I mix two flavors like this?

Remember: 100% NooB.)

A couple hours after ordering this setup (with two 400 batteries - I KNOW, I shoulda gotten the 650's, or at least ONE 650, and I actually tried contacting Halo, since the order wasn't sent out yet, but they shipped it before they got back to me), I decided to do a follow-up order with:G6 78mm Titanium Auto battery, G6 USB charger, 2 Smoke-colored minitanks, and a couple more flavors.
Midnight Apple - 7ml - 18mg.
+ Voodoo - 7ml - 18mg.

Yeah. I'm All In. Dedicated. Hopeful.

Seemed to me that even though it's a Proprietary system, it's a good one... with tasty flavors. At least that's what I hear. Anyway, sorry to ramble so long. If you've made it this far, yer awesome. Basically, I know that I will be doing most of my vaping at home, since that's where I usually am. But, when I go out for bike rides, they're pretty lengthy. (6 hours or more.) And when I'm riding, I seem to smoke an awful lot of cigarettes... just light one up & hold it in my teeth as I ride. This is the reason I ordered the Automatic G6. For it is Less-than-Ideal to ride one-handed... at least on my crazy stretch-cruiser/chopper.

I'm just wondering about transporting the Triton as I ride. As I said, I ordered the little 400 batteries with it, so it'll be small. But, am I going to be able to load one up with a 2.4ml clearo of my ADV & ride? Just worried about all the jostling, and constant motion. Pockets seem like a horrible idea. Legs in constant motion. But maybe a lanyard setup around the old neck? I dunno. Advice would be appreciated.

I will have no troubles at home, or other times when I'm out, but just wondering about anyone's experience while riding a bike for long trips. Probably just have to use cartos.

I know. Learning Curve.

And, since I'll have 4 Triton 2.4ml clearos, and 2 minitanks, do I want to keep them Filled when at home? If I end up liking 4 flavors a lot, would I want to fill my four 2.4ml clearos with each of them, and puff on them as I see fit, switching them out, from time to time as needed, between batteries and such, or do I have to keep em empty and clean when I'm not using em, so as to keep the fluid from thickening & damaging the coils, or burning the wicks? It seems that maybe I could sort of use them for a week, then clean them all thoroughly, or one at a time, as needed. But, what I guess I'm asking is, if I finish a tank, should I refill, or clean-then-dry-then-refill, or leave it sitting there mainly empty, with a little eLiquid dookie inside for a day or two? Would that be worse than leaving it full?

So many Stupid questions. So little time.

Can I plug in a battery before I go to sleep? Will it stop charging when it's done, or will it damage the battery?

Keep in mind that I have NEVER vaped. Never hung out with a Vaper.

My only resources have been countless hours/days online, on here, bouncing around trying to learn, and I don't like to get into something without knowing what I'm getting into.

I didn't want to flush a bunch of money down the toilet on some lame cig a like that would never be used (as my brother did years ago on some over-priced piece of garbage that tasted like ....), or would be used from time to time, in Addition to smoking. I want to switch.

If quitting happens one day, then great. But I love to puff, and I need my Nicotine.

It'd be great to hear how your body (and mind) reacted to the change-over. Tips for a successful transition. Thoughts on what to expect. What to look out for. Ways to avoid unnecessary unpleasantness. Ways to break in and maintain my equipment properly. Tips on mixing. Tips on steeping (it seems that EVERYBODY AND THEIR MOM has a different method and philosophy on THIS topic). Tips on what (alternative vendor) eLiquids (eJuices?) I should avoid or look for with my equipment.

I know I'll be dropping some dough in the upcoming days/weeks/months to get myself properly set up. (i.e. - DIDN'T EVEN GET ANY DRIP TIPS FOR MY CARTOS! Soooooooo Stoooooooopid!!!)

Looking forward to experimenting, but Guidance/Mentoring never hurt anyone.

For example: After COUNTLESS hours of hopping around forums, somebody happened to mention to another noob in some random post that it takes 15-20 minutes after a Vape Session for the Nicotine to kick in, instead of a matter of SECONDS like with cigarettes! I had no idea.

As I said at the beginning of this verbose post: No-Brainer.

While I may have the i.Q. of a carrot, I TRY to learn. But not without your help.

Thanks in advance for any and all info! :toast:

For the bike rides I would get a lanyard for sure. The only lanyards I know of fit eGos so you might have to take the bigger one on the bike rides. There might be other lanyards out there I haven't looked that much, a eGo is the smallest device I use.

Oh - I just wanted to add I have a friend who's been vaping for like 4 years and he tells me the Halo Belgian Cocoa is really good and I should try it. So hopefully you'll like it. I should get some soon and finally try it.

Welcome! Don't worry about the long list of questions or posts, my first post was a doozie too! :) I have the Halo G6's and I actually really like it. My very first day without smokes I was puffing on my G6's like tomorrow would never come. Mine came with Tribecca 24mg and it worked like a charm staving off the desire to light one up.

Things I learned, don't try to inhale like you would a regular cigarette. Draw the vapor into your mouth before inhaling. that way you don't cough up a storm the first hit. Vapor is denser than smoke so that might be why I coughed so much the very first drag I took off of the Halo G6.

Next I learned to not draw hard. Slow and smooth produces the biggest vapor cloud. that was key for me in being able to drop cigarettes. it had to feel and in a weird way look like I was smoking.

I think getting a lanyard for your triton is the best idea from Denrock. That way you could just let it dangle around your neck as you ride then bring it to your lips as you need to take a puff. I wouldn't suggest holding it in your fingers as you ride as you could drop them. Even though the G6 is roughly the size of cigarettes you are smoking, (for me I used to smoke Camel 99's) they are a lot heavier than a regular cigarette. But the bonus side! you don't have to light up so no lighter or matches needed. :) Just a fully charged battery.

Welcome again!

Not for nothin, but could someone Please have mercy on my soul, and tell me what I've gotta change in my format settings to allow indentation, and 2 spaces in between sentences?

Swear I've tried dinking around with all the logical buttons, but they ended up doing more absurd harm than good.

It's not easy being me sometimes.

Oh something else the Lanyard is good for is stealth vaping. I use mine in class sometimes without anyone even knowing it. I sit in the back corner and when nobody is paying attention I stick just the very tip out of the top of my shirt and press the button through my shirt and the trick is to hold the vapor in for a bit then almost nothing comes out. :)

Cool. Guess I'll just hit a local B&M for a lanyard (don't think they include em with the kits from Halo, and I didn't see any on their site when I made the initial order.)

Found a cool case in a post in the Halo chatroom for two eGo's or one and a G6.

Vea Leather Carrier - E-Cigs

This'd be great for normal out-and-about, but probably not so hot for bike riding.

As far as the Belgian is concerned, I've heard tons of great reviews on the taste... but I heard it could have a pretty nasty funk to it. Someone described smoking it in their bedroom, and when their wife came back in she said it smelled like "dirty socks that had been worn for two weeks while mowing the lawn", or something to that effect.

Anyway, I'm a chocoholic, and it seems like it's be great for me, as I'd planned to mix it with Kringle's Curse... as it's supposed to make it taste like an Andes Mint, or Peppermint Patty.

Yumm.:vapor:

Thanks from FL. Wish I were back in Ca! I'm GOIN back to Cali (but my wallet says "Yo, I don't think so.")

Looking forward to the Tribeca and Torque56. They're supposed to be great tobacco flavors, which will probably be necessary in the transition.

I've got a MeGa SweetTooth, but I can't see being able to vape on the dessert stuff round the clock.

Me too, and you're right, I alternate between fruits, deserts, tobaccos, beverage flavors, well I guess just about everything. I rarely stick to the same flavor more than a couple hours.

Welcome to ECF SmokieTreats! :thumb: I keep all my Triton tanks loaded with batts attached and switch around constantly (I have 5 flavors going right now). I top tanks off before they're even half empty, but try to clean them out weekly. Bike... I stick a Triton tip-down in a nylon pistol magazine pouch velcro'd around the left side of my bars. For short runs, I just carry two Tritons tip-down in my Vea leather carrier.

The G6 Halos and then the mini tanks were/are perfect for starting out as both my husband and I are off the stinkies now because of them and really do like a lot of the Halo juices. Both of us 35+ years smoking. I was a menthol pad smoker and am using Mystic all day. My husband smoked pad+ Marlboro Ultra Lights, but he actually likes the Halo Menthol Ice. We've ordered another set for my brother to try with Tribeca cartridges along with the Halo sample kit. Totally working for us! Good luck.

Thanks Nova_did_it.

Yeah, LOTS of vapor and TH seems like it would be important for me in the switch. That's why I jumped right in with the tank setup/manual battery where it seems I'd have more control on vapor levels. Everybody seems to say once u have a manual battery, u will not want to use an automatic, and theoretically I can understand that. But for me, seeing that I have ZERO experience, I figured it'd be worth a few bucks to have the auto G6 in the mix to get started.

I was gonna get the VV battery for the Triton, and would've gotten it if I could've just had it as one of my 2 battery choices with a price upgrade. Spending another 30 bucks on that didn't seem necessary right out of the gate, cause it seems that I might want to go for some kind of mod setup down the road, and the price of all this stuff adds up.

Don't PLAN to have a million devices like so many seem to end up having in this Vaping Realm. It appears to be an addiction in itself (like tattoos, or Smartphone paraphernalia/Apps) , having the latest and greatest gadgets, but I don't plan on having a collection.

Of course that may very well change down the road.

Got the G6 Auto just as an experiment, since most of the rest of the gear is interchangeable. Seems like it'd be good to have somethin shaped like a normal stogie, too, with the familiar light-up tip I'm so used to (even if it is BLUE, which seems pretty cool to me!).

At any rate, it's been like an extended childhood Christmas Eve these last few days, as I eagerly await the new toys.

I REALLY hope I like Vaping.

Holy crap, I HAVEN'T EVEN TRIED IT YET!

Don't have buyer's remorse, just anxiety over the big changes to come... not to mention the fact that there's a million gadgets in the Vaping Universe to choose from.

I just wanted some reliable gear from an established company that seems legitimate. One-stop shop. For compatible components, and flavors with a good reputation. All without breaking the bank.

If I had jumped into some high-end mod setup, it would've cost me more than I spent on a ton of stuff from Halo, and then I still would have to dump even MORE $$$ into some Juices.

That seems to be the next step in the process. Not the first step.

I'm just wondering about what kind of Alternative juices I can throw in these proprietary plastic tanks without melting em, gunking em up, or otherwise damaging them.

Of course Halo's gonna say to only use their juices in their gear, but... WHAT THE HELL DO I KNOW?

Not a helluva lot, at this point.

If anyone can give me some honest advice on compatibility issues with what NOT to put in these tanks, that'd be great. I know some are higher PG/VG ratios, and all that, but I don't know what to look for or avoid, in terms of this hardware.

-Much thanks-

Bike... I stick a Trident tip-down in a nylon pistol magazine pouch velcro'd around the left side of my bars. For short runs, I just carry two Tridents tip-down in my Vea leather carrier.

Good thoughts! (when u say Trident, u mean Triton. I'm assuming? )

On yer bars, it's gonna take a lot less hoppin an boppin around than in yer pocket (what with legs UP & down, UP & down), but there's still MAD vibrations goin through the bars. Do you use the clearos, or carts on the bike?

That's my main concern, be it around my neck, or in your setup, it's gonna still be sloshin around a fair amount in a tank, isn't it?

I'm guessing.

"I know NOTHING!" :p

Well, that's pretty awesome it's working for both you guys (and Hopefully yer bro).

& thanks for yer support!

(not to sound more moronic than I perpetually do, but what is "pad" & "pad+"?)

Awesome. That's the sorta thing I need to know... now that u mention the cinnamon, I think that's what I skimmed across reading somewhere that had me freakin out bout bustin/meltin my tanks.

But, you know, Citrus & cinnamon flavors sound like they might be pretty good!

Must I endure a future without knowing?

Once you start using your equipment when they come and you continue to come here to visit, chat and learn it will all start making sense. promise. I swear, when I first got there I had no idea what ohms meant, or what the tanks were called, but time and experimentation it begins to make sense. There are still things I read on this site that intimidate me! LOL But each step I take I learn a little bit more. So I'm confident you will be a pro in no time with all of this stuff as you start getting into it.

Oops I almost forgot about tank cracker juices! Yes they exists. More than likely the halo juices will not crack your tanks as it is their own products. But when you want to expand your flavor pallet, you will want to be mindful of those tank crackers out there. Denrock gave you a good link. :) Also many vendors like Mt Baker Vapor, the place I'm currently ordering from puts notes on their eliquids of which flavors has reports of damaging plastic tanks. The cure for this is to get glass tanks.

Mind you Halo equipment has proprietary threading therefore it is not easily compatible with other tanks on the market. So I would look to see if Halo offers any glass tanks or else get an adapter that allows you to get a tank like the Kanger ProTank 2. It is a glass tank that would allow you to vape these tank crackers without destroying your plastic tanks.

PS. I don't think you will regret it. Just look at this as a whole new journey.
