Hello SmokieTreats…

I’m very new to ECF and vaping myself and although I can’t offer any expertise yet with regard to hardware, my basic story isn’t so different from yours. My guess is that most stories are similar in the ECF.

I smoked a deck per day of Marlboro Reds for about 33 years (yes, I’m OLD too). Unlike you though, I did try quitting a few times without any long term results (1 year at the most). The last time I FAILED quitting I basically said “F” this, I smoke and that’s just the way it is and had no intention of ever trying to quit again (even knowing it would eventually catch up to, or, be the death of me). I’d joke and say when the day comes; I want an oxygen tank with the Marlboro logo on it.

Then I discovered (by accident) e-cigs and things changed immediately. I did my research (as most of us did), saw Halo over and over and so got 2 G6 starter kits, one tobacco sample pack, three mini tanks, and three 30ml bottles of liquid (24mg) all through Halo’s site.
I’m now over a month into my switch and haven’t even thought of smoking. I’ve actually had to look at the calendar to figure out the last time I smoked. And for anyone imprisoned by their nicotine addiction who quits (or tries); you know damn well be it years/months/days/minutes and, in some cases, even seconds since your last ..... You can just tell when something is going to stick and I now know this stuck like glue for me (as I hope it will for you). I’ll never smoke again and when I speak, think, or even type these words, I can’t help but grin from ear to ear. Hey, I have sisters who quit 20 years ago and still say they wish they could have a smoke while having a glass of wine or whatnot…20 damn years and still tempted!?!? Quitting sounds more like a sentence to me.

I can’t compare Halo to any other vendors out there (hardware or juices) and I’m sure there are plenty of quality choices. I can tell you my research worked out because I’m very satisfied with Halo overall. I guess you could say I feel loyal to the company who finally got me off of something I tried so hard to detach myself from over and over again. So yes I am a fan of Halo and it’s because their hardware is doing its job very well and the flavors are really delicious (to me). Of course there will be some flavors that don’t agree with me but I’ve only begun to sample (tip of the iceberg). However, I’m not a fool and if their products were sub-par, I would have taken advantage of their return policy and be in another sub forum right now.

I realize flavors and tastes vary from person to person. However, I like to experiment and find it fun to find out what other Halo folks enjoy and try it myself. So far I’ve been trying only tobacco flavors but now have a new mindset in that maybe I’d like to try menthol or chocolate. I was conditioned to equate inhaling with something that should taste like tobacco but it’s just recently occurred to me (especially reading in the ECF Halo Forum) that I might really like inhaling (or vaping) chocolate or mint or pineapple or whatever…hey as long as I get my nicotine and throat hit, other flavors could be pretty damn awesome and fun to try. Has anyone ever taken a drag off an analog, stopped and looked at it in your hand, and gone “wow that tastes really awesome?” In 33 years I never did and I’ve done this several times in just the last month while vaping. Yes when I fell off the smoking bandwagon, I’d be in heaven with my initial drag but it wasn’t the flavor that was doing it for me…it was the nicotine rush that made me say “Ahhhh.”

I’ve learned what I’ve done wrong (burning carts or overfilling mini tanks) through trial and error but also from reading here. Some of the comments and topics are specific with what I purchased so I’ve learned from other people using the same exact items without even having to ask (if it’s happening to you, chances are it’s happened to somebody else). For example, I’ve learned how to clean my mini tanks and carts to get the best experience from my merchandise and it worked very well (good as new). Of course, as stated much earlier in the thread, you can always ask and you will get your answer and then some.

I hope you take to vaping like I did and that it all works out for you (no matter what vendor you choose). I’ve yet to “upgrade” to the Titan as I currently have no complaints with my carts or mini tanks but eventually I will (kind of on the fence right now). When that time comes for me though, I’ll probably read one of your posts on “what to do if” or read what flavors you like to mix or vape with a steak or drink or whatnot.

Good luck man.

Yeah, cool. I would think so, too. Good to hear. :D

USB ports are protected against power surges, shorts, and too much power drawn. They shut themselves down, automatically.

Some fear that if something goes wrong, it could damage the port; there's no way to predict that, but anyone can pickup a USB port extension, whether it's 3, 6, 12 inches, or more. Very convenient.

@SeniorBoy - Thanks bro, very much appreciated.

@SmokieTreats - I hope you do love it and never look back. If Halo doesn't work out, don't fall. Dare I say this but try some other vendors and if they don't do it for you, then try some more. Point is to keep getting back up off the canvas. Although I doubt you'll be disappointed but to each their own.

Vaping IS the answer to quitting smoking bro...it really is. I feel lucky in that I loved Halo right from the get go. In my opinion I picked a winner and couldn't be happier.

I'm eager to check out your first impressions as well.

@Treats - So...Has your gear arrived? We need reports please :) Charge, fill, and VAPE!

Not yet!

Looks like the secondary order (Auto G6/minitanks/Voodoo/Midnight Apple/G6 USB) will be here tomorrow (Thursday), but the Primary Triton order with all the MAIN juices won't be getting here til friday. (Halo didn't end up sending out the original order on the 3rd, as they SAID they did... -original order notified as "shipped" last Thurs/3rd @ noon {"Priority"}- ... then received ANOTHER "shipped" notification Tues/8th @12:30pm {"Priority 3-day"} -for the same order- ... which makes me think/Hope that they ended up fulfilling my request to change one of the 400mAh batteries to a 650. Just a guess.

So. by the time the G6 gets charged-up (EIGHT HOURS, I hear???), it's gonna be Late Thursday night before I CAN begin to vape (with Midnight Apple & Voodoo? Not what I had in mind for my first flavors). Plus it's gonna be charging through the USB, since I didn't order ANOTHER AC adaptor... figured I'd have the Triton here first.

Should I NOT DO the initial charge on the G6 through the USB charger and just wait til Friday to charge it for (EIGHT HOURS:ohmy:)? I would imagine it'd take MORE than (EIGHT HOURS:ohmy:) on the USB.

@Treats - G6 bats don't take long to fully charge from a depleted state. Couple of hours. First: Open your vape mail. Try not to get excited but if you do then we all understand. LOL Some nut jobs on ECF actually wait outside for the postman :)

The out of the box bats are normally charged enough to vape. Take one bat out of the mail and use it: fill and vape. Charge the other bat at the same time your enjoying wounderland.. Keep rotating bats so you always have a fully charged bat ready to go as a backup. As your collection of bats grows and it will, insure that all your extra bats are fully charged.

BTW, I'm not a bat geek and Iv'e never had the patience to "condition" a new bat and frankly see no difference in my gagle of bats. Others who are of the bat geek school may have other thoughts which is fine.

We need reports! :)

LOL

it's a lithium battery with no memory...the 8 hour rule has always been confusing for me. once the light goes off, it's charged and at that point your just taking on a trickle.

Yeah, as I understand it, the Halo USB chargers cut off when the light turns blue. So you shouldn't have to worry about over-charging your batteries. I don't worry, anyway -- I've far too many things to worry about to sit around watching batteries on a charger. If I'm wrong and my habit reduces the batteries' life, then so be it.

Holy crap SeniorBoy that's exactly what I did and what I've been doing with my bats.

I have 4 G6 batts that I rotate. When I feel one is loosing power I swap them out.

When my order came in (I wasn't standing at the mailbox but did keep looking out the window and listening for the truck like a little kid), I used one batt right away and put the others on their charger. I don't have the patience to condition a batts either. And can someone explain the "use for 20 minutes then place back on charger for an additional hour". How do you do that? Let's see about 6 seconds per drag times 10 drags give me one minute....oh "F" this, just let me vape!

Nice call man, you described my situation almost perfectly...very impressive.

Yeah, I've seen that the Tritons arrive pre-charged, and I ASSUMED (you know what they say about THAT:unsure:) this'd be the 1st order to arrive.

Seems as though Friday is the BIG day. :rickroll:

Thursday's just kind of a tease.

Then (probably) Monday for the Twist & Manual G6, etc.

Got a pretty good arsenal of smaller batteries, I think, for starters. Seems like a decent variety to get in the swing of things:

Triton 400mAh (Black)
Triton 650mAh (I BELIEVE... may be a 400) (Black)
Triton Twist (Black)
G6 Auto 78mm (Titanium)
G6 Manual 78mm (Emerald Green)

(would've liked at least ONE Iridescence in the mix... they look pretty sweet:p)

Anybody have experience with the 400's? Are they lame, or did everyone just grab 650's so they'd get more time out of em? The 400's looked more manageable and easier to transport/conceal.

Ha! I feel ya.

Not much into the idea of devoting much of my time watching a battery charge, either.
