I remember reading that some people tested the original AVA Atomizer in the UFS with less than stellar results due to the solid center post. I read that AVA released a bottom feeder version with a hollow center post and decided to take the plunge to see if I could get it working.
I'm a first time UFS user and my experience is probably pretty standard for anyone just coming to the device, so I'll explain exactly what I did to get it working.
My first attempt failed miserably due to user error. I suspect that I didn't properly screw the atomizer in and it leaked about half a tank down into the collector tank. It was gurgly and eventually seized up, spitting a mouthful of juice into my mouth.
On my second attempt, I read a series of tips on the forum that fixed every issue I had:
1) Screw the juice control so that it is 100% open and the air control 100% closed.
2) Pull the atomizer connector pin down a little ways.
3) Screw in your atomizer so that it is nice and tight.
4) Screw the juice control so that it is 100% closed.
5) With the clear window off the tank, try taking a drag on the atomizer; if you get ANY air at all, loosen the juice control and tighten your atomizer more and try again until you are absolutely incapable of drawing air through it.
6) Put the clear tank on, fill with your liquid and assemble as normal.
Step 5 is the step that really cleared things up for me. After following these steps I was able to get the AVA working absolutely flawlessly.
The flavor on this atomizer is awesome. I've got an Odysseus on the way and have used the iAtty and I love it, it's my all day vape. But sometimes I just want to fill up a tank and go without sacrificing a ton of flavor or having to worry about replacing a blown atomizer halfway through the day. The AVA is spot on perfect for that purpose and I highly recommend it to anyone using the UFS.
