I’ve been vaping for 7 days, haven’t had an analog in 5. Some things I’ve ran into the last 5 days:

I’m happy to say that I haven’t killed anyone! LOL I’ve found that I love the smell of someone else smoking! Luckily it’s not something I get to smell often….only a few times a week. It doesn’t make me want one, because I know it won’t taste anything like the smell. There have been a few times a day that I just want an analog and can’t seem to get enough vape! The urge eventually passes!

My problem is I’m now getting the reactions to me quieting analogs. I’ve got the zits, I’ve got swollen gums, a sore on the roof of my mouth that feels like I burnt it (but don’t remember eating anything extremely hot). My lips feel like their sun burnt and I haven’t been out in the sun! I 100% contribute this to getting e-juice in my mouth several times over the last week! I can’t wait to finally get a full grasp on how to use my new e-cig! I’m going to the windycityvaporsclub the 13th! I can’t wait!

Ok, I’m done venting, back to vaping!

Welcome and I'm sorry to hear your suffering so from withdrawals. I've quit smoking lots of times and thankfully never had any of those symptoms. The zips alone would probably make me go back to analogs. :) It's good that you aren't giving up. Juice in the mouth is pretty nasty and we've all had it happen. I solved the problem for me by just putting a long drip tip on my cartos and now it only happens occasionally. I don't have this problem with carts or stuffing cartos. What are using? What ecig setup do you have? Are you using stuffing cartos or tank type cartos?

Sore gums and burnt feeling in your mouth is the nicotine. Try juices with some VG in them - in atomizers I recommend 70PG/30Vg or 50/50, for stuffing cartos I get longer good performance with 80PG/20VG. Nicotine can cause bleeding gums - known side effect. And my tongue felt burnt like I had drunk too hot cocoa until I switched to juices with some VG in them. Now my nicotine is low (I worked my nicotine down to 6mg) so now I can use 100% PG juices but at 18mg I could not.

PG lets through the most flavor, and the most of nicotine's TH and irritation (nicotine is a skin irritant)
VG dulls everything PG lets through but adds thicker vapor

And buy some juice one nicotine level down to try - you won't have a nic fit. Just take some extra drags, and the lower level will be less irritating.

If you have dry rough skin on your face or other irritation, especially around your nose and mouth, that can be from the nicotine too - both from vapor on your face and from touching you face after you have gotten juice on your fingers without washing your hands. If I just wipe my hands on my jeans or on a tissue, that happens to me.

Rarely some people are allergic to PG. But vaporized PG is used in hospitals to deliver drugs in inhalation therapy, even for lung transplant patients. It's also sued for concert fog. It's more likely the nicotine bothering you. Using juices with some VG in them will buffer the irritation.

If you are using cartomizers, try a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece. That way the vapor will be in a wider stream and not hitting directly on your gums.

And if you are vaping like crazy, you could try moderating that a bit. At home I leave the ecigs in another room so I have to go there to vape. If they were with me all the time I would vape constantly.

Well you just answered my question as to how to use drip tips! Doh!!! I'm using the Joye eGo Standard that I got from Liberty-Flights. As far as what I'm using with it, I've got the Joye eGo Cartomizer, Smoke Tech 510 Cartomizer and Joye 510 cartridges which I'm using with the automizers that came with my Joye eGo.

Congrats on being smoke free! I plan on being at the meet (will be my 2nd meet if I do) as well. Make sure to bring extra $ for cartos, attys, etc :)

What nic strength are you using?

Thank you!

That's awesome that you will (hopefully) be there!!! I will bring cash! I was hoping someone would have supplies. I had no idea what to expect at these meets. I'll be the girl with the zits on chin and frustrated look on her face! Hope to see you soon!

I'm using 18mg.

I've been analog-free for a bit more than three weeks - the only other time I quit smoking was ten years ago.

I smoked Marlboro Red 100s at the time (except they were in a gold box back then) and a few days after I quit I developed flu-like symptoms and some nasty mouth sores that took a few days to go away. I asked around and learned this was most likely from the four zillion other toxins in the cigarettes leaving my body.

Four years ago I switched to something lighter as the Marlboros were killing me and when I quit this time I had no problem with mouth sores.

It'll get better soon, honest. Hang in there -

Honolulu, Hi
GJ without smoking, Try and drink more water, vaping dehydrates you. Maybe this is causing or adding to some of your problems. GL!

Definitely a good tip. I had the same problems as OP and drinking water in between puffs or short sessions helped a lot. keep at it though! it should pass after the first month (how long it took for my problems to go away) or so.

Look at you.... powering through the challenges. Wow. Proud of you!!

Hope you're better soon. Your sunburnt-feeling lips are probably a sign you need to drink more water. Reading posts I've deduced that people with side effects from switching from cigarettes to vaping drink less water than those who have little or no side effects. I'm not a doc, just facinated by people's experiences in this new world of vaping. Hope you enjoy a big glass of water and scan the benefits: Benefit of Drinking Water

I went through the sore gums and mouth several years ago when Nicorette first came out with their cinnamon gum. Loved the taste and overdid it. I thought it was the cinnamon and switched to a mint type but it didn't seem to help. More power to anybody who can just use their recommended amount and not kill something. Didn't realize it was the nicotine until I started vaping and somebody told me on this forum. I just kept sipping cold water between puffs and being careful not to get juice in my mouth. It went away quickly. I've been stopped a lot longer now than I ever did with other methods. Ain't goin back. Congrats and if you just hang in there it will get better and better.
