Nice rig KV.

Although my 14500 batteries are still on the slow boat from China, I've been looking hard at ½" copper pipe and caps. I can't check for fit until I get my batteries but I'm thinking that will make a sweet and compact single battery 801 mod with an insulated spring and microswitch set into the bottom end cap.

Thanks CH.
Sounds like a good plan you got there.
I've got the 1/2" but had the cr123 batteries so had to go with the 3/4".
That really should be a great rig. Those batteries should fit exactly.
I've got to order some 14500 batteries. Might just bite the bullet and go to that Battery Junction outfit.

CH I didn't really have a problem with my 801 (Rio) at first; new batteries, atomizers, cartridges, etc., but after the new wore off I found myself constantly fighting bad battery/atomizer connections and weak batteries, all of which contributed to poor performance.
IOW I knew, in order to have a dependable device, I had to have something that put a good, constant voltage across the atomizer.
This had already been done with the SD and many of the mods that folks had built.
I'm really, what you might term, a moderate vaporer (take a couple of tokes and lay it down for a few minutes) but so far this thing runs circles around my stock 801.
The battery (CR123 800mah) last me 3 or 4 hrs, but I don't let them drop much below 3 volts, and they recharge in an hour or so.
Didn't mean to get carried away here; but in short, this thing just works, for me anyway. Heavy users mileage will obviously vary.

Any chance we can get you to do a step by step for us? With pics and all? I really want to do a "from the bare bones" project, but know nothing about putting contacts in a homemade container (for the batteries to touch) and I always wonder how everybody makes it so pretty. Does the actual body of your mod transmit the negative? Or do you have to run wires up to your cap and be careful in removing the cap? Sorry, it's always been a curiosity of mine.

I have only done juicebox mods, and of course, thanks to nico, I had it laid out for me!
