I haven't found any news articles- actual news articles, not blog posts, saying the UK is going to ban e-nic. Seems they may be included in the smoking ban in public places, but no outright ban.
Dear, they are not saying "ban". They are saying "regulate as medicines". Which amounts to a de-facto ban, because it would take all the current e-cigs and especially all the current
e-liquids off the market.
The only e-cigs and liquids that could (legally) be sold under such a "regulation" would be products for which their producers had paid huge amounts of money to go through government regulation and get approval as "medicines".
Only Big Pharma and Big
tobacco have the money to afford such "regulation". Oh, and each (!) liquid would have to get separate approval, e.g. Vanilla in 6 mg, Vanilla in 12 mg ....
tobacco Vanilla in 6 mg.. Tobacco Vanilla in 12 mg.. etc etc.
One UK e-cig company counted up what it would cost to get all their current products regulated as medicines and arrived at several billion (not million, but billion) British Pounds.
Such regulation would be the death of the free e-cig market, a big huge money maker for the British government and the joy of Big Pharma and Big Tobacco - as the competition would be dead. Conveniently destroyed by the government. And they would be handed the e-cig market on a silver platter. To gain a practical monopoly. And we all know just how well monopolies work out for the consumer.
.........
disclaimer:
Yes, yes, I know that experienced long-term vapers can mix their own liquids and will - in all probability - have their "sources".
But the e-cig would be dead for any current smoker willing to switch. Which is precisely what Big Pharma and Big Tobacco would love.
And their dear friends and buddies at the UK government would love to do them - and their own coffers and purses - that little favor.
It is important to realize that Big Government, Big Pharma and Big Tobacco all profit nicely from this vicious circle:
smoke tobacco and pay high taxes... try to quit with costly and nearly useless NRT's ... fail ... smoke tobacco and pay high taxes... try to .... - rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat... die.
The only one who does not profit from this wonderful money-making circle is the smoker. The person. The human being.
But who cares about those anyway?

Just adding to the explanation by jpargana:
You can find the link at the end of the blog article
w w w .telegraph. co. uk/health/dietandfitness/10376090/E-cigarettes-all-you-need-to-know.html
From that article:
"However, there is a problem with quality control – which is why the MHRA wants to see e-cigarettes regulated as medicine. This should come into effect in 2016, although without a Europe-wide initiative the UK may act unilaterally."
And also:
"This is precisely why they need regulating as medicines, so that they are not sold to under-18s or targeted at non-smokers"
(BS, BTW: tobacco cigarettes are not medicines, and there are already laws to prevent it's sale to under-aged people)
Well, back to topic: regulating (irrationally) the e-cig as medicines is actually a ban, for all practical purposes... that was, I believe, our battle when we fought back the EU initiative earlier...
Yes, that is precisely the part of the EU Tobacco Regulation that we have been fighting so vigorously.
