I mentioned this in the chat thread. I bought an Ultrasonic cleaner from ebay to clean cartos. It has a fixed 3 minute cycle, after which it shuts off.

It makes a tinny, zzzz noise. If I look inside I see things vibrating a bit, or the liquid is. I see 3-4 bubbles that just sort of float around & jiggle. And the liquid is warm afterwards.

I did try it today on some cool carts that'd had wowboy peppermint in them. 2 x in plain water. Afterwards they didn't smell of anything. 3 x done in vodka followed by water. They smell of vodka:facepalm:.

Does your ultrasonic cleaner have a longer cycle? Do you see more happening through the top? Have I bought a dud ebay product? I fear the answer to all 3 questions is yes.

Both of mine are 3 minutes per cycle. I don't use anything but plain water but I do boil mine first then use the ultra sonic. I run them through for 3-4 cycles and they come out crisp and clean as if they were new again. The tops of mine are blue and you really can't see anything through it. I can open mine up while running so I know they work okay.

Ok, final results. The oven method almost worked. They looked dry, but when i syringe filled one, some water bubbled up instead of juice. I just used paper towel to soak up the water. Wasted a little juice, but it worked! My old champagne carto now tastes like cherry cordial without a hint of champagne :)
