It might be good to spend a little at a time in these first few months of vaping so you can figure out what works best for you. Backup eGo batteries are always a safe bet, and stocking up a little on juice once you find what you really like might be good. I found much of what I really like in juices and equipment at about five months. If money's tight you might not want to go too far in mods right away. With some of the new things available the prices for performance might be dropping. You might like bigger/smaller devices and different juices after you've been vaping a while. I kept sampling and swapping juices to find my favorites, and thanks to sales and trades it wasn't too costly. Used mods can be good deals too if you're patient and ask questions, and might include batteries and chargers so your startup costs are less. Good luck!

ive been wanting to buy a few more ego batts and some mods but all together its gonna be 200-250$ and with all this stuff i hear about banning e-liquid makes me nervious if i should make this investment as im not very well off. what do you all think? maybe im just nuts lol thank you all! :vapor:

I ain't rich either. E-cig stuff can get pricy when you go hog wild. I suggest you buy only what you really need. The Ego batteries will last a long time, like at least a year. You can keep two of them in circulation. If you bought a Passthrough device, you can use that at home by your computer desk and not use the batteries.

( a passthrough is a device you plug into the wall and vape with, no need for batteries. these come in 3.7 volt and 5 volt models and are sold many places - mad vapes has the 5 volt models for cheap, 17 bucks and you need a 2.0 ohm adapter to go with it for plugging it into the wall, thats another 8 bucks But it will save your batteries while your at home.)

You may not be ready to tackle Do it Yourself e-juice yet. This is where you buy concentrated flavorings, nicotine liquid, and the vg and pg to mix yourself. Instead you can save by getting some flavorings at void mist. They have flavors in 30ml bottles for 6 bucks.

I suggest You get what you need only plus perhaps just a lil more for splurging each month. I used a 35 dollar e-cig kit plus 20 dollars worth of DIY juices for 5 months before I made a heavier purchase. You may not get everything you want, but you can get everything you need at good prices and make it last a long time. Shop around, budget, be happy.

One advantage that most mods have is that they take non-proprietary batteries. This means that they will be available no matter what happens in the e-cig world. They're often used in flashlights. Lighthound carries lots of different sizes to fit their large selection of flashlights.

Another advantage is cost. A 900 mah 14500 can be had for less than $5.

If you're interested in trying a mod on the cheap, think about a boxmod kit from Madvapes. They're only 9 bux. Add a pair of batt's and a charger and you can get into a mod for around $30. The VV kit is a bit more expensive @ $17.99 but it's a cheap intro to the world of HV vaping. All you need is a bit of soldering tools and skills, or a friend who's willing to help you out.

No shame in collecting. Plus with mods, you won't have to worry about a dead battery replacement. You can find them anywhere where flashlights are sold...even just battery vendors. All mechanical is the way to go IMO. Nothing to break...no wires or circuit boards blowing. I know people will disagree with me on this but it's just my opinion is all. As for the ban, no but I look for stuff to go way up in price due to taxing and most small mom and pop vendors are going to go out of business. I don't think our government understands that it's going to mean more jobs are lost because of this crap.

I have been vaping for over a year and I just started to buy mods and I find in the long run they are better cause it's easier to carry extra batts than a bunch of ego batts with me and you can still use your device while other batts are charging. I have the e-power and the roughstack and I love them. The ban has been an issue since I have been on this forum and if all of us, I mean allllll of us keep fighting it, We can win. If they do ban it I think it will go underground. If they won't ban analogs I don't see them banning e-cigs! I have a great stash and I can last a good long time if they do ban them, so I just keep stocking up and will hold out as long as I can cause I don't ever want to stop vaping!

Did you know that there are now even flashlights that screw onto a 510 connection?
Stop and think about it, how much of what we use is specific to vaping and has no other use.
Farmers & ranchers would have a cow (pun intended) if they banned PG.
So would the food supply industry if they banned VG.
How would you like to go without batteries?
So just what is it that they can tax as a tobacco product except the tiny bit of nic that is added to juice?

I don't want to contradict anything above. However, if I were worried about a ban I'd think like this (for me):

    1) I can build an e-cig power supply 100 different ways. Electronics available everywhere.
    2) Flavorings/PG/VG no issues.
    3) I can't make connectors. I'd need to buy new or find/scavenge old 510 connectors (battery side). Actually you can use a tap and die to make a 510 connector... but PITA... easy to buy a bunch.
    4) Nicquid. Can't really make my own nicquid (in a practical manner). Although I might give it a shot if I had to.
    5) Atomizers. They can be made. PITA. Have a bunch (year's supply?) on hand.

First off i love my eGos and it never hurts to have a few on hand. Now if you like the style of the eGo but wanna move up to a very nicely priced mod i suggest the v5 WOW mod

You can get the V5 WOW from Clouds of Vapor for $25. Its a regulated 5 volt device that looks just like a eGo bat. Its the same height as a eGo 100maw bat but fatter. The WOW uses 2 RCR123A whiich you cab get with your mod as a add on. Its 2 bats a charger and a car charger adapter all for $17. the batteries you can also buy for $4 a pop. Thats is a really super price and Bruce at COV is one super good guy.

I have 3 eGo bats, the WOW and a lava tube nothing high end and i am quite happy with that. I find i like the low end of the volt scale myself. 5 volt the highest i prefer. Just give me 3.7 and a LR carto and im good.

I would not pay the FDA much mind. I understand your concern but there will never be a ban. Oh they may tax it they may regulate it but i just dont see a out right ban. There is only one real issue IMO anyone needs to worry about and that is cartos/attys. There are tons of juice vendors here in the states plus you can make it yourself. Mods are easy to make. Not that i could do it mind you but it does not take much know how to make a mod. Fact of the matter is i have seen mods made out of just about anything you can imagine.

Nope the real issue is cartos and attys because we have no stateside industry for them. They are all being made over seas and so import tariffs may be what kills our access to them. That being said i still dont think its gonna happen.

I say NOW is the time to stock up on stuff because they start taxing it higher, but i do think its always gonna be around.

I think you could be wrong here. Big tobacco and the Pharm companies stand to lose a lot of money so they are going to fight it tooth and nail. Money talks and unfortunately they are the ones that have the most.

I've noticed a couple of suppliers discounting China juices lately. The juice market is large enough in the U.S. to support itself. There were some FDA regs in the last law that addressed juice names that violate tobacco company copyrights and patents that will have to change from the names of commonly marketed cigarettes. Port hardware seizures shouldn't be an issue since they are no good without juice. Who knows what the FDA might choose to do.

I think that a total ban is unlikely, but heavily taxing some vaping products is inevitable.

    - batteries/mods: a box mod can easily be built with off-the-shelf items. Even proprietary batts (eGo and the like) could be sold with a removable flashlight head to get around bans/taxation.
    - atomizers/cartomizers: they could be built/re-built but it is a PITA. This is the one item I would stock up on.
    - pre-mixed juices: because they contain nicotine they could be taxed, regulated or banned. Time to learn to DIY.
    - PG/VG/Flavorings: because of their other uses it would be almost impossible to completely ban them or tax them heavily.
    - Concentrated NIC juice: same as pre-mixed juices. You could stock up and freeze it but it would only be good for 2 years or so. You can also grow your own tobacco plants and extract it yourself.
