you may be right, i never tasted the juice from an un-oxidized wick. all i can say is the taste i get is awesome from my oxidized wick. so how do you clean your wick? just dry burn?

Atty don't matter I do the peterK method but it works better with a 30 or even 28ga wire

Just hit it with a lighter to get any oil off it.
Personaly I don't do anything I got my mesh from the mesh company in the UK and its very clean

i mean like after a week of use, how do you then clean the wick? just a dry burn or do you take it out?

well my coil is loose and oxidized, will it be not as hot as yours? or is it just because of the oxidation that makes mine not as hot?

Well if your coil is a good as mine and your wick is as loose fitting as mine, why would you need to oxidize?...see what I mean? But to answer your question..... if I took out my current wick and oxidized it and slid it back in.... there won't be a drop in performance.

You might be very close to your provari's cut off...maybe that's why you need to oxidize so much. If you go back and do everything i mentioned in post #48 in this thread and use a mechanical mod just for the set up...I don't think you'll have any problems. If you fire it dry and see not all the coils are glowing evenly you can pulse the power on the mechanical mod an in less than 30s all your coils will glow evenly and then you can transfer the DID to your Provari. Usually I don't do builds that are very close to the cut off of my Vamo. Also usually all my coils glow evenly from the get go....but the pulsing technique is a good one to quickly adjust your coils.

but the pulsing technique is a good one to quickly adjust your coils.

I have found on the provari if you pulse short and fast enough you can do it without hitting E1 till you get the full glow, you cant hold the button at all, it has to be just a quick tap to see the semi shorts fire, and over time the pulses get longer and the full coil fires up.
. but you have to do it like 3-4 times then wait a sec or you open the menu.
I found when it seems like it's getting cruddy i just pop the top syringe the juice out and fire it till hot while blowing on it a few times, then put the juice in and it takes 4-5 drags to get back to a clean vape. YMMV.

just to the left of the stem you can see the wick hasnt even been flamed or anything it is still silver mesh

you know that may be it. i definately am close. 28g/ 0.08 to 1.0 ohms/3.4v. when i give it a go will try higher. also will alternate from mechanical mod. thanks. one more thing , when you take out your wick to clean, do you try not to burn alittle to clean it?

Yeah...you're right above the cutoff...but initially the coil and set up isn't stable so you will easily go below it. I am sure if was making 1.3 or 1.4ohm coils on my Vamo....I would be constantly going below the 1.2ohm cut off....at least initially.

Yes when I clean my wick I torch it mildly....it probably gets very mildly oxidized but not much.

BTW I was reading in modders forum....it seems now the consensus is that a solid, tightly rolled unoxidized wick will wick better than a super solid, tightly rolled, oxidized wick that is stiff like a nail....go figure. All I know is since I have been using un-oxidized wicks i use less mesh than before....without any noticeable difference in wicking.

I just did my first ever genesis type build on my aga t+. To note I used the crappy provided mesh and wire as I am still waiting for my #500 SS A4 sheet.

Drill bit (slightly smaller than the wick hole) method worked fine. Coil in place in 10 minutes and dry burning w/o wick was nice and even.

Rolling the wick was tricky as it was a bit too big and had to unroll a bit to cut some excess to make it thinner.

I was able to slide the wick and started pulsing slowly to oxidise the points/areas of contact between the wick and coil while adjusting the coil. It took me 30-40 mins before it all started slowly to glow nice and even with the wick dry so I dripped a few drops on the wick/coil. Seemed to work pretty well, so I filled the tank and closed the whole thing...Success!

Unfortunately, as it was the first time the aga t+ fired, due to the heat things loosen up so I tightened the caps. Centre post did not spin and it pulled on the coil/wick. It pretty much screwed the setup as I had to loosen the center post's nut to pull the wick back to its original position. Took me about 40 minutes to get over a hot spot forming at the top as it was less tight at the top of the wick.

Right now I'm vaping @6.8W on a 2.1 Ohm Coil (5 spins of the provided wire) with pretty good results. Vapor production is a bit less than the initial firing and flavor seems a bit different that I am used to with my silica setup in my killer atty but very clean and more sweet. I think I have to go through the break-in and would need to recoil to get rid of the resulting imperfections from the tightening mishap.

It is also my 1st experience with SS wick so all of this might explain the flavor being a bit off what I am used to.

Long story short: 1st ever genesis setup with crappy mats was a success! Still room for improvement and for the break-in of the setup but defo not discouraging or frustrating as I was expecting (watched tons of videos, lurked a lot of threads). Plus I'm a little bit sick with a cold so my taste might be off as well and I know I can get more vapour too!

Great work here in this amazing community! Thank you!

Try raising your voltage/wattage higher. For mesh wicks I vape using at least 12 watts
