Underage ecf members???

I was asked by another member to show my drivers license to them through a webcam to verify i am not underage. I AM 22 YEARS OLD!! I thought when i signed up on the ecf, it made me verify my age and date of birth... Maybe im wrong? But my age and dob is on my profile! Along w a photo of me and my 26 year old fiance and our child. I dont think thats right of someone to ask me to show my license to prove my age. If the picture was of an old woman i wouldnt have trouble. So i think the ecf should BE SURE of everyones age before hand so i dont have to deal with this crap.

Don't sweat it man. People get all worked up on ecf over little things. Had you said something to make them be concerned about your age, that's one thing. If not, then they just need to mind their business. Have a good one.

But if i were underage i wouldnt be on here nor would i be trying to buy from people on here. I am on my phone currently at work, no i dont have a webcam!! Just rude.

Well personally if I was offended by a practice like that I would simply take my business elsewhere to someone who wants my money. Plenty of upstanding places out there to shop.

Just as a matter of information security/safety, I wouldn't recommend showing your ID to anyone online. They might be asking to see it for reasons other than what they say.

Short of asking for a copy of a DL, ID, or birth certificate it would be hard to accomplish. We do ask for your DOB when signing up, but that doesn't mean folks are truthful.

As for the vendors verifying your age, not all people buying ecigs are members on ECF (We are working to change this ) so even if we verified age it wouldn't stop someone underage going directly to a vendor.

I do agree with the previous comment about not showing you ID over the wed to someone you don't know.......

In the end it comes down to the honesty of the user...........

I had this happen a few years ago when I ran into a convenience store to buy 1 beer ( for saurbraten) and a pack of smokes. Got proofed, so I had my 6' tall 23 year old son bring my purse in. He walked in, and said "Mom, what do you need this for?" The clerk's jaw was hanging to her chest! I don't think she even looked at my ID when I flashed it at her

Well i wasnt buying from a company. Its a person selling in the classifieds on here. But i told them im not doing it and they shouldnt even ask to do that. But im not saying theres anyway to BE SURE people are of age but i was just saying to reject people who verify an underage bday. So that i wont have to be asked to show my freakin id.
DesiG- that is too funny!!! Its silly how one family member walking in can change the way people think of you. I hope my son could verify for me already! But unforyunately nowadays, having a child does not mean youre of age.

I don't care who was asking or why. Just do not ever do this, please! It is a crazy world, you never know what is going on. We are all strangers here or anywhere on the internet, even if we seem like friends. Just skip the purchase and never show your identification on a webcam or any other electronic devise. In fact, no vendor should even ask you to show your face alone on a webcam, much less i.d. Please be safe.

Certainly sounds weird to me. Details from ID could be used for identity theft and fraud (e.g. taking out loans in your name). Most online transactions are through credit cards or Paypal so would have thought that would be enough proof that you were over 18.
