Undoing 40 Years of Stupidity?

I just want to thank everyone for the very warm reception. Within 5 hours of my original post, I had 32 replies, and not one called me names or insulted my intelligence. Either I have fallen into an alternate reality internet, or this community is exceptionally strong and dedicated (I expect it is the latter).

My next steps from here are to join CASAA (they only have around 17,700 members? That must change!) and to start digging a bit deeper to see if answers to some of my questions already exist here. From there I will be tapping the expertise of you ECF members to optimize my vaping experience and doing what I can to help the new anti-smoking revolution save more hardcore smokers like me from prolonged misery and early deaths.

I have already lost friends and family to smoking, and for the first time in my adult life, I can see through to a smoke-free future. If it is working for me, I am quite sure that a lot of people in the same boat as me can be helped. Now that I have found a vendor-agnostic, relatively unbiased source of information and support, I am more optimistic than I have been in a long time.

Thanks again all, you are exactly what I need.

It's rather simple to explain, we've all stopped smoking and are happy about it....
AND most importantly we're not having nicotine fits.....:2cool:

For me it is simple.... I hate chewing gum and wearing patches, just not fashionable unlike having a PV in my hand with a cloud of vapor following me around and if I get nervous and need to run off at the mouth, I can come here and no one thinks much of it.....they all understand here!

vaping is a "family affair"!

Best of luck!

I have not read through this whole thread yet, but I MUST SAY, your expression "e-gig" was the best I ever heard.
With all the fed's crap, political bs, laws, greed etc, I've always been miffed at the original title of our habit.
Why on earth did they ever put "cigg" in the title. That gave the big, state, local feds the upper hand in my opinion.
Just like Alt-smoke, its NOT smoke. I just wish so badly that "cigg and smoke" were never in the title of anything
that has to do with our lovely habit. It's like we shot ourselves in our own foot, then put it in our mouth.
This is only my opinion and I'm not looking for an argument or bashing any business that put Cigg or Smoke in their name.
I merely wanted to say the "e-gig" expression is awesome !
I wish you well as I smoked for 35 years or so and am so happy I don't anymore.
Regards ~Barbara~

Just joined the forum, since I see this as a very valuable tool in my effort to never smoke a cigarette again. So about me: I have been a full time smoker for 40 years. For the last 20 or so, I have been smoking approximately 30-40 big fat hand rolled, non-filter cigs a day.

A friend of my wife sent her a Joyetech eGo starter kit quite a while ago and a bottle of e-juice. We both tried it and thought it was OK, but did not get serious about it. Then a couple of months ago I had a few vascular incidents with the blood supply to the retina in my right eye, causing temporary partial vision loss in that eye. That was enough to scare both of us into giving the e-cigs another, more serious try. I bought a second kit so we would both always have an e-gig ready to go.

I still smoked a few cigarettes a day at first, but kept at tapering it down, and now I have not smoked in a week and do not miss it, unless I smell smoke. My wife still smokes a few a day, but has reduced her smoking considerably. However, it seems I am still on the learning curve, which is how I ended up here.

Money is tight for us now, so cost is a major factor, but because vaping is far less expensive, that has helped keep the motivation up to stay off tobacco. I do vape very heavily; I go through 2-4 fully charged eGo batteries a day, and I am using 30 mg/ml e-juice. I will have several questions, but felt that an introduction was appropriate first, so here it is.

Thanks in advance for all of the help I am sure i will get here. And to whoever designed this website and forum structure, you are awesome. The auto-save function has already saved me from losing this post by trying to preview without being logged in.
