in my own world.
So I recently got an ego twist for my sis to help her quit analogs and she was thrilled by the gift. However, when I checked back with her on how's her journey, I was disturbed by her response.

I asked her if she was still on analogs, and she told me yes. I was a little sad, and asked her why. She told me she didn't dare to vape when she's not at home because it's illegal. She spends a lot of time out due to her work, and since she doesn't dare to vape in public, she can only fall back to analogs. Now THAT'S ....ed up. I know it's kinda obvious, but when it actually happens to people you care about, it really sinks in.

I don't want to encourage her to openly break the law, but this is stupid. We're trying to kick a habit that's known to harm yourself and others around you, but yet we have to hide like criminals when we do it. This, compounded with all the negative press full of lies vaping is getting in general, is really make my blood boil (takes a vape to calm down).

Now my dad is a heavy smoker, and I was hoping to convince him to switch to vaping as well, using my sister as a testimony since my dad is as stubborn as an ox. With all this .... going on, how can I convince/help the people I love to quit?

Anyone has stories to share on their/their loved ones' journey?

Just my humble opinion, just because your sister is still using analogs, doesn't mean she'll not switch to vaping in the end. Even the best of us slowly switched from analogs to full time vaping.

If you want your sister to switch to vaping, you need to do your part by educating her on the benefits of vaping. Simply giving her a kit will not do. She'll need to know and understand the reason of vaping to actually unlock the potential of vaping.

You don't need to tell her to break the law, what you can do is tell her the benefits of vaping.
1)cost saving
2)health benefits
3)no smokers cough
4)pleasant taste and smell
Etc etc.

And hopefully slowly she'll make her move towards quitting analogs for good. Quitting smoking is one of the toughest fights we ex smokers have. Be patient with her, read up on articles and explain to her. You may also proceed to tell her solutions to avoid doing it in public.

My dad is a long time smoker. But IMHO, sometimes it's not that great to get them to switch to vaping especially if they are old. Their body might be so use to it that the sudden switch to FT vaping might create more health issue.

This is just my personal opinion though.

Where on earth did you get that idea? After 40 years of smoking, the switch to vaping was the best health move I ever made :p

I think that she just needs the information. Vaping isn't illegal but I think that some people are very misinformed. My Mom says I shouldn't vape but is happy that I am not smoking analogues. I try to educate her. I know I am doing the right thing and that is the important part. People will come around. I just remind my Mom the very bad experience that I had with Chantix and the patches. I know this is a much better path. Other people at work are starting to switch and feel better. I wish your sister luck

Well, it's a personal opinion/belief..

He's 72 this year..Been smoking since he was in his early teens(50 over years).. Did ask him to try on a ego-T i had back then. Wasnt easy as he keeps flooding the system.

Sometimes the human body is so accustom to doing a particular thing for 50 over years that it appears okay until you deprive the body of that thing. That's when issue might surface after being mask for so long.

Personal opinion.

Converted a few of my friends and even my brother to full time vapers. Easier to do so with the explanation.

As for me, been smoking for 12-13 years before switching to vaping for the past 4 years.

Thanks guys! Yes I think I should talk to her more about it. Perhaps to her it's still quite a big unknown which is why she still prefers to stick to analogs as a "safe" choice. I'll still try getting my dad to quit analogs, if it really doesn't work then well... I'll think of something then.

Oh and babydoll and iris are both awesome and she loves it :)

There are quite a few people on this board who smoked as long as your Dad. Easy? Not necessarily. Better for your health? Absolutely no question at all.
