So, I built a 0.9 ohm vertical coil for one of my Hobbit RDAs and tested it properly for hot spots and resistance. Came out to 0.9 ohms perfectly and everything was good. So, I wicked it up and got it juiced... took some toots. Very nice. What I didn't notice was a potential short where I cut one of the legs. Puff, puff, puff... got a short. Resistance dropped to 0.4 ohms instantly. The issue is that I had this installed on my non-regulated, fully charged Ego One... the power jumped from a nice and warm19 ish watts to a blistering 44 watts right in the middle of a full lung hit. Talk about a super rapid dry hit turned to a godawful burn hit. Bad, bad, bad taste, lots of hacking and cursing. Burnt the crap out of the wick, too. Oh well, that'll learn me to not get complacent with attention to detail just because I've been building coils for a good while.
vaping amusement... too bad there wasn't a camera on me to catch my reaction.
