The University of Louisville put in place a ban too. However they did not include the e-cig. Here is the UL definition:

For purposes of this regulation, "smoking" means lighting or burning any pipe, cigar, or cigarette. University facility means any facility owned or leased by the university or its affiliated corporations

Board of Trustees > Office of the President > University of Louisville

Although I am not in favor of outdoor smoking bans.... this policy is better written.

An institution of lower learning?
QFT

I hope these people realize that rules like this substantially decrease productivity. Wait until they see the grades go down for ~20% of the students and performance worsen for ~20% faculty. Then they can have a new slogan for the school:

"Where education is secondary!"

Neither here nor there
Wow, times sure have changed. Las t time I was on campus there were more smokers than nonsmolers. The VA/UK hospital serves and houses many smokers. What are they going to do? The veterans seek care there, the very same people who served to preserve our rights. Weird, KY is such a huge tobacco producer you'd think they would turn a blind eye to smoking. Guess the nonsmoking benefactors have more $$$.

Interesting. You can smoke anywhere at the university I attend.
UCSD has been smoke free for at least 20 years now.
I smoked anyway, but at least I did it away from other people for the most part.

I just decided how far away I needed to be to prevent any possible damage to bystanders.
I decided that was about 15 feet in the open air.
But only 10 feet if there was a nice breeze.

I refuse to let ...... dictate what should pass for logic and reason.

somewhere out there......
its the same way with my college except they have one place for you to go smoke and its almost 50 meters from the building. You cant smoke anywhere else except for inside your car. you cant smoke in the parking lot you must be inside your car with doors shut... its crazy... but thats the way it is... there is nothing no one can do about it and it sucks.

Sun,

C'mon. That's a little hard to believe. Do you really expect us to believe you're so old that they actually let you smoke in class? I mean really, just how gullible do you think we are...

...besides, didn't you tell me a few months ago that your instructors made you go outside the cave to smoke?

My school (University at Buffalo) just went smoke-free this year. Right now they have a grace period of a year to allow smokers to go to concentration camps while they smoke (parking lots, yes in buffalo, winter for 9 months of the year, where being outside in the wind for too long could kill you) before they revoke that privilege.

The ban is a pathetic lip service excuse to make the campus look "Greener". It's supposedly enforced, where if you're caught smoking, they inform you of the dangers. They say it's not meant to be a punitive rule. However, by removing all the .... disposers and hyping the non-smoking sensation, you get a lot of worthless pretentious non smokers that just love to pretend that the rule is real. So basically, smoking bans just result in .......s and litter - great for the school.

I wouldn't worry about the smoking ban, how can they honestly even think of enforcing it? They include smokeless tobacco. GOOD LUCK catching snus users, I dare them, even vapers for that matter.
