Col. Gaunt--What would be smart to say is that the use any unprotected
batteries is bad news and should be never be employed.
These Mods can explode, and even with venting, a Mod using an unprotected battery, can cause serious injury or death. Most, if not all commercial e-cigs do in fact use protected batteries, just like cell phone batteries.
We have seen reports and pictures coming in from Mods that have exploded do to unprotected batteries and have caused serious injury. A Mod can quickly become nothing more then a "pipe bomb" if the Mod lacks safety features such as the use of protected batteries.
Also, we have seen reports of fires do to Mods that go off when not in use do to the lack of a built in kill switch when transporting.
It can not be stressed enough that the use of protected batteries is mandatory for safety and that Mods that do not have venting and a kill switch are not built as safe as they could be by any means.
Also note that the bigger the unprotected battery used, the greater the damage it can do.
Commercial e-cgs use protected batteries and there is no reason that Mods should not also use them. They are only slightly more expensive.
