I can understand the insurance companies not wanting to cover the risk of smoking tobacco. It is refreshing to see your coach for the carrier is up front and clear with what they are looking for. There are several agencies in my area that will not hire smokers. I'm not a smoker anymore but I find this practice to be an infringement on our rights. I think this changes their EOE standing, but nobody is making a fuss about it.

baby steps...... First we have to keep it a viable alternative. Once that is accomplished, look out insurance companies, you're next!
When I was going through my medical testing last year constantly asked if I was a smoker and telling them I vaped. After explaining ecigs every one of the medical personnel gave a "pffft" and said I was a non-smoker.

It's a little amazing one of them works for an insurance company who can raise your rates that high by saying you're a smoker though.

My business partner has the attitude that you haven't quit smoking until you quit everything. He was referring to my vaping. He thinks I have false pride for saying I quit smoking yet I still vape. Some people just have an issue with giving any credence unless it's absolute.
Sorry to say he is not alone. Baylor has the same opinion. Really tired of employers being the morality police. It is starting to feel like one of those futuristic movies where everybody is known by a number and each morning you wake up you are asked if you are in compliance.. Yes, I comply!!!
I believe...that would be the book 1984...George Carlin has a great bit on youtube about how we are ruled by the "Owners". We seem to be a country who's government is controlled by the corporations and not us. It's very frustrating being a slave to the banks, let alone every body who thinks they know better about what I should and should not be doing.

I didn't think pre-employment "blood tests" were legal. Pee tests only, how do they get away with this?
Since my daughter is using 0 nic juices I don't think the swab test will find anything. Of coarse, just like eating too many poppy seeds will test positive for the really bad stuff I guess she will need to lay off the fresh veggies like potatoes and cauliflower. I wonder if any vegans are aware of this potential problem with there careers.
That I don't know. I have a co worker that feels the same as your business partner. She said, "but you are still using nicotine right?" eye roll. I'm like "You still drink coffee for the caffeine right?" It is just a mild stimulant but no one gets that. I even had a health professional tell me it was the nicotine that makes the walls dark in homes with smokers. It couldn't be the actual smoke or tar...

Jeez...I guess they smoke sausages and meets in tobacco not oak or anything like that and my science teachers in hs and college were apparently wrong about everything. Now I'm going to have to reevaluate everything I have ever thought was scientific fact and chalk it up as ideological fantasy.

I know. I was so floored I couldn't even say anything. It would having come out like "You're a .......*** idiot!" Instead I just shook my head and walked away!
I CANNOT wait for doctors everywhere to start bashing NRT's and start suggesting PV's (something that actually works) for quitting smoking... Maybe then people in the general population out of the know won't be so closed minded?
My doctor is all for it. She congratulated me for quitting and had nothing bad to say about it. She even let me do the preaching for a change.

Yes, all my doctors are very happy that I've quit the stinkies. None of them have anything bad to say and one has converted from cigs to ecigs because of me. Every doctor I've talked to said no one every quits on NRT's.
