Update on my setup! Ohm questions?

Hey guys! I picked up a Protank 2 from a local vape shop last week and my god it's wonderful despite that it gurgled and didnt get much air flow to begin with. I have a 2.5 atty in there now vaping at about 4.0-4.4 on my MVP depending on the liquid. Which btw i also picked up Vanilla Trifecta by Drakes Vapes and it tastes heavenly. It's a 30/60 mix. I was having some problems with gurgling and bad airflow, but i flipped the little white rubber gasket on the atty head upside down and now it works like a charm and hasn't flooded.

Two questions.

1. Is it okay that i flipped the rubber gaskey upside down? Since I have it hasn't leaked and has given me no trouble but, i'm afraid it might hurt something I can't see.

2. The Protank 2 came with an extra atty that is 1.8 ohms, what are the pros/cons of lower ohm resistance? should i switch?

I'm no expert but I have no reason to believe that your flipping the gasket would have any detrimental effects.
As to your Atty question (and again, no expert) the lower the Ohms the less resistance = bigger vape clouds. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong though.

Yes, lower ohms is bigger clouds. But, using a 2.5ohm atty at 4.0-4.5 watts is on the low end. 7.5-8 is at the upper range as I figure it. Just wanted to mention. Maybe I am missing something...

Another thing is it's all about preference. There are times when my PV is turned down stupid low and others when I have it cranked up. So may variables. Juice, Atty, coil, ect....

I'm using the Protank 2 right now at 1.8 ohms on top of a Provari and it's working light a champ. It's up to you which coil you like best. I started at 2.5 and switched to 1.8. I vape 30%PG/70VG.

Lower resistance doesn't always equate bigger clouds. Just for reference the mvp 2 has a 3amp limit which allows you to push lower resistance harder then a device with a lower rated 2 or 2.5amp. However I have read that the device actually will limit to 2.5amps for many that have tested it.

with a 1.8ohm head you will max out at about 5.3 volts on paper with 3amps. but 5 volts is the actual max with the reported 2.5amp that 5 volt setting would be regulated to about 4.4volts or 10 watts.

with a 2.5 head at 5volts you would be getting about 10watt's.

Either head you will get to the same end result which would be wattage or heat. The biggest thing to consider is you will be using more power to achieve the same result with the 2.5 head. The whole lower resistance vs higher resistance started way before the really e-cig techy stuff started. You would want the lower resistance on a ego back in the day as it would hit harder on a 3.7v then a higher resistance would. Now a day's it's just a matter of which one you prefer.

So using the 1.8ohm head would conserve battery life, correct? because it requires less power? It doesn't really matter because i can use my MVP for 2- 2 1/2 days anyway. But i'm curious

Technically yes, however the conservation would be so minimal that most wont notice it even with a 650mah ego battery. The same thing happens with single coil v.s. dual coil. Once you get to higher amp usage like a mechanical mod with sub-ohm requires, then you will notice changes in battery drainage.

I dont think you'll see better battery life. It will need less VOLTS, but volts aren't power, watts are power. To get the same vape, you will want to turn down the voltage.

Think of it like a hose. The 1.8 ohm is a bigger hose than the 2.5. So, to get the same amount of water you can turn down the pressure (voltage) in the 1.8. If you leave the pressure the same, you'll get more water (and drain your battery faster).
Watts is like the amount of water you get over a certain amount of time.

You can also get a 2.0/2.2 ohm coil for the Kanger if you want...I only use mechanical mods these days, and the 1.8 ohm just burns my juice. 2.5 is too "cool" for me. 2.0 seems just about right...when I use my Kanger tanks, that is...mostly I just rebuild my Igo-L with a 1.9 ohm coil and that's pretty perfect.

Agreed. I vape my 2.4 ohm microcoil on my RSST at 5.3-6 volts because it wicks so efficiently that it doesn't kill me with a dry hit. On any other topper like my Protank II, I would certainly be resting in a coffin if I cranked my volts up to 6.0 with a 2.4 ohm coil lol.

1: No; what it means is the leak was not from liquid leaking through the wick, but instead there was a gap between the top of the atomizer (base of the spire) and the center tube; flipping the cap helped seal the space. You can try instead of flipping the one cap, to add an extra cap instead and see if it fits.

2: Since you have an MVP it makes no difference; just use the same power level.
For somebody using a mech mod, the choice of resistance is much more important. A lower resistance coil will run hotter than a higher resistance coil when used on a mech mod.

Nope; same batter life; unless you are using higher power where the efficiency of the kick circuit makes a difference between the two. Otherwise for the same power level, you should get the same battery life.
