Five days ago, I smoked 1 1/2 packs of analogs. Sunday, I purchased my Vamo V3. I realized this morning that my analog consumption yesterday totaled.......4 cigarettes! There were a couple of times I had to literally talk myself out of having one, but even then, down from 30 analogs a day to 6 is awesome :). There are just a few set points during the day I can't seem to let go of my cancer sticks. I go for a vape first, but before you know it, I have a smoke in my mouth. The points mentioned are....first thing in the AM, and right after my meals. Any advice that consists of more than "mind over matter" is welcome, as matter is obviously winning at least 4 times a day. Thanks for all of your help and support. I know in the end, I can kick this thing!

Congrats

The longer you go without em the easier it gets, at first I was still smoking 3-5 a day and chainsmoked cigs when i went out drinking, but after a while I stopped getting urges for cigarettes altogether. I knew I was completely done with em when I went out drinking and even after a couple beers had no desire for one. Stay strong and vape on!

Grats on the switch! It's a great feeling when you look at the past and realize how far you have come!

I honestly think that the best part is when you taste something for the first time and the flavor really pops to you..a the joys of a good drink or food. So nice. Anyways, you picked a good method by weening off of cigarettes slowly! A lot of people try cold turkey and that really isn't the most ideal method in the world, but for a select few, it works.

Best of luck in your journey! We will all be here to support each other along the way!
Any questions feel free to ask! :vapor:

I agree with having a high enough nic level juice to satisfy your urges..... also find a flavor the goes well with your morning beverage of choice. :toast:

Coffee all the way lol. That in itself presents a small challenge with hydration. I'd drink the stuff around the clock if I could. And FWIW...decaf is NOT an option. I think it destroys the flavor.

Thanks guys. I will definitely try the separate clearo w/ higher nic. See? that's what I'm talking about! So simple of a method, and it never even occured to me. Thanks again!:toast:

It's a little counterintuitive at first, isn't it? We're trained to think (and rightly so) that more smoking is bad, but we're not smoking! Instead of grinning and bearing it, just vape! One thing i know I had to get rid of is the idea that vaping is bad for you, and there's NO guilt in vaping until you're satisfied. Could you imagine smoking enough to be satisfied, even it meant chain smoking 5 or 6? Unthinkable!

Don't let it bother you. In my first week of vaping I went from 2 PAD down to about 6, sometimes 8 cigs a day. I felt like I had to have one with coffee and one after each meal, plus one before bed at night. I did that for a long time while vaping before I decided one day that I wasn't going to buy another pack. Surprise ... there were no withdrawal symptoms.

I've vaped for over 3 1/2 years and it's been a year and 9 months since I've had a cig. The sad part is that I could have quit the cigs in the same month I started vaping. I just didn't know that.

Take your time and let the vape take over. Don't worry about those few cigs that are left right now. Let your head get wrapped around vaping and toss the cigs once you decide you want to smell like a non-smoker. Your home and your vehicle won't stink after you quit, either. Another benefit to not smoking is that you can smell all the great aromas of the world again and lose the throat irritation and the smoker's cough.

By vaping and tapering off the cigs, I was able to quit without a single pound of weight gain.

Huge accomplishment! Congrats to you!

I can relate on the urge to smoke still. I have 3 actual cigarettes left. I smoked one last night and I honestly felt I wasn't missing much of anything. Tho, ironically, I am sitting here very stressed out about something and HUGELY craving a cigarette. I think I will follow the advice you were given and get a stronger juice for this kind of urge.

Thanks Dave. Just one thing.....as a fellow musician, I've been known to enjoy a smoke while I played. I guess that is incentive to invest in something smaller, eh? I just cant see myself trying to hold a full sized mod in my mouth while shredding on my axe lol

Thank you LotusGirl. I think the thing to say here is to stay strong and don't give in to the temptation. So, at the risk of sounding hypocritical.....stay strong.

I vape during rehearsal on stage. These days, I play in a praise band at church, so I don't vape on stage during a service, but I do vape outside before and after. People that know me accept it and are glad I quit the stinkies. If I still played the gigs I used to, I'd just vape between tunes and use 24mg on stage for a quick hit here and there.

I've transitioned down from 24mg to 12 mg lately. 12mg is good and I plan to taper down to 8mg soon.

When you are trying to quit the smokes, just vape like a fiend when the urge hits and the cravings will go away. It really does work, but you have to be at the right nic level. 24mg was my magic mix.

While taste is very subjective having several "great" tasting 24mg juices ended my 40+ years of tobacco smoking overnight, and I had no plans of quitting going in. I just really enjoyed the flavor and variety. The hardest time for me came a few weeks in when my sense of taste seemed to dull. I likely would have stopped vaping at that point if not for the wealth of information here on ECF which assured me my sense of taste would return... and it did. Be sure you have "a few" tasty juices of adequate strength available and be aware that your taste preferences will likely change with time. Stick with it, it's well worth the battle.
