Yes, if you want to get the most out of an RSST you will need a mechanical Mod to use, but on the Evic you will need to know everything mentioned already, but also you might as well read up on rebuildables in general. You will also need to learn to meter the coils you build correctly, to prevent shorts/device damage. Also helps to know the Evic (usually) won't fire below 1.3-1.4 ohms... at least mine won't. So you will need to be building coils higher than that. You will probably want 32 guage kanthal for this job. 30 and 28 will require too many wraps to reach high enough resistance (Over 1.3ohm) to go on the evic easily.
If you do decide get into a mechanical you will need to read up on alot more (batteries, amperage, low ohm safety, and much more) but the end result is fantastic. It's not as hard as everyone makes it sound like it is, it just requires reading and understanding everything before moving forward. Three months ago I was running a Vision 1300 spinner with a 2.2 ohm clearo, and now I'm running a 1.0 ohm RSST and AGA-T2 on my Smoktech Natural mechanical, both working fantastic! It's a whole different vape, especially on a genesis like the one you mentioned. Sorry if I threw too much information at you I'm just trying to help, if you have any other questions just throw them out there!
