URGENT! Loss of throat hit on 510! Thinking about analogs.

Another thing to think about (as I hate to tell folks their method is wrong or anything) is this. I was firmly in the atty camp for a very long time. Cartomizers have come a very long way, and I think if you have not tried one, it's worth a shot. If anything, have a few just in case you run out of attys. Or maybe even for a car trip, where you can't drip as easily. I was amazed at how far cartomizers have come in the year or so since I had tried them last. It's all I use now, but I've never used a 510 type carto, just 808's. Just a thought. Have a good weekend, and I hope you get your gear situated.

So how do cartomizers work?

I was a Joye 510 user for about 6 months, in the begining I really enjoyed it etc. My first atty lasted 3 months!! I was amazed, so then it started to get gunky and what not so I boiled it in distilled water, let it cool, blew it out, boiled it again, and repeated this process a total of 3x. It tasted like crap, then I dry burned it and it totally came back to life.

I noticed my throat hit was dissapating, and then I lost a battery and had to order a new one, and guess what with the new battery the throat hit came back. Over time the standard joye batteries just fade and reduce your throat hit. I lost my last battery and that atty a few weeks ago and instead of ordering yet another standard battery, I ordered 4 in total, I was like forget it, I've been ordering too many batteries for this thing, and two new batteries will cost about 10-15 dollars less than a new Riva 510 kit. So I went ahead and ordered a Riva 510. (Definitely check Liberty Flight, use the discount code, and go with the SE edition as you get a LR attys)

Wow what a difference. I don't have to carry my PCC everywhere, I just carry a lil 10 ml bottle (a 5ml would do) and my pv and I'm good to go for the day. The throat hit is constant and great all day.

You might also want to try out a high quality juice. I had some dekangs and ick I can't believe I used to use them. I wanted a really good menthol and I tried Halo's and wow was I blown away, amazing throat, great taste, and you can really feel the quality of their products. Once you step away from the Joye 510's you'll understand why so many of us move on to Riva's and E-Go's etc... I hope this helped!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I will defo be getting a riva soon I heard the battery is amazing too. Im getting really annoyed of charging my 510 every hour or so. Pfft.

Very simple. Looks like an atty, but you pop the top off and fill it slowly with about 20-30 drops or so(depending on what you get). The stuffing absorbs the juice, and is vaporized by a heating element as you vape. Here, I'll post a vid for you. I have no sound, so I'm sorry in advance for any language that may pop up.

For all I know, he may give them a bad review lol, as I've never used a 510 carto. Just 808's. But the idea is the same. Hope it gives you some ideas of different ways to go, if you choose to do so.

One thing that used to happen to me a while back was when I would get "worked up" over not getting a good hit, I would resort to hitting it like a cig. Muscle memory I guess lol. Maybe try taking a much slower, longer hit if you are not already. Also, all attys are NOT created equally. Some work for months. Some work great for days. Some are dead on arrival. You may be beating a dead horse here. Might not be the case though. This was one of my major reasons for switching over to cartos. While an atty may give a better hit when it's working great, cartos, imo, seem to be more reliable in their performance. That, and they are cheaper lol.

And it was so easy to overlook too. Once you get all freaked out about not getting a good hit after a while of trying, you get desperate. I know I did anyways. Brand new gear, with a fully charged battery may let you get away with taking quick, sharp drags like that of a cig. And then the reality of ecigs creeps up on ya lol.

Yeah, most the time thats the way it is, you get a kung fu kick to the throat in the morning when you wake up, but over the course of the day the TH gets weaker as your throat gets coated with pg. You can try to eat some popcorn or something similar in texture to scrape the collected pg off, can help regain TH.

I took my second atomizer which I used to vape on 50/50 pg vg mix, blew it out, refilled it with my original juice and tada! I get a throat hit that makes me cough! I could go without vapour if I can only get that feeling at the back of my throat.

ive heard of ppl adding vodka or pga to their juice for added throat hit, might want to give that a try.
As to the amount,im not sure but wouldnt think adding anything more then 10% for a overall solution(ie. 10%pga/50%PG/40%VG)(more VG as its thicker cause the pga will thin it considerably)
Me, i am not a fan of throat hit whatsoever, i like a nice smooth easy on the throat vape(100%VG menthol all day long for me).
Also, using menthol easys the hit and takes away the harshness abit so maybe try a different flavor without the menthol to see if it makes a difference.
But as posted, it could very well be due to the almost dead battery and or atty on its last leg(if u have a multimeter, the resistance)

What I noticed is, my atomizer gets hot and instead of getting a good thoat hit and not much vapour I get loads of it and hardly any throat hit. I use menthol juice and I get this warm vapour with this horrible taste at the back of my throat. I dont know how to fix that.

We've all had days when for some reason we just can't taste our juice. This used to happen to me frequently if I used the same juice for a long period of time. I can certainly understand your frustration. I think that is probably what causes most of us to start venturing out to try other variations of pvs and liquids.

You've definitely been given some good advice. Most new users begin with something like the 510 but eventually upgrade. A riva or eGo would definitely be a step in the right direction. Many new users are worried that they will have difficulty adjusting to the added bulk of a larger pv, but you will be surprised at how easy it is to adjust. I'm currently alternating between a Provari and REO. When I use my eGo it just feels tiny to me now.

I also highly recommend you give cartomizers a try. If you get a Riva, pick up some Boge 2.0 cartomizers to use with it. This setup will give you the consistency you are lacking now. Also, remember to drink plenty of water while vaping. I believe this helps also.

If you are a Menthol vaporer, here's some advise for the future...

One that has always worked for me was buying Menthol Crystals off ebay, and dropping a couple in my E-juice. Great throat hit everytime! I had a VERY bad batch of e-liquid at one point (no throat hit, could not taste it), so I put some menthol crystals in it and it made it wonderful to vape.

I got so good at this I actually buy RY4 and other flavors (instead of menthol), and make my own brand of Menthol flavoring. ITS WONDERFUL because I can make the menthol very strong, or just a hint of it, however I want it, without having to worry if the menthol Vape showing up at my door will be strong enough or not.

I got something like a pound of crystals for only like $20 bucks, and as long as they are kept in a cool, dry place, they will last years upon years of great menthol vaping.


Every other option I have seen mentioned on here.

Take it from someone who has tried everything. Dual coils cartos give the best throat hit even better than 5volts. But they only last 4-5 days tops so if you dont mind paying $2 every 4-5 days then go this route.
