if you like blu but want something different but similar try v2cigs - i tried blu after v2 and thought they were worse though i didnt like any cigalike ecig

next step you should try a ego style ecig - small tank that sits on a long cigar type pen style ecig

i used halo triton - now they are good however their 510 isnt compatible with anyone else though they also make cigalikes, google ego style ecig and you should find a bunch just know that if you get a plastic tank you cant use alot of flavors as they break those tanks

most people buy halo eliquid but not the hardware including me, if you wanna stay with tobacco, i highly recommend their tribecca, its a caramel ry4 tobacco flavor and very good, i still use it to this day even though i sub ohm and make my own juices, i still buy tribecca

for flavors that will break a plastic tank, you will need a pryex glass type tank like a kanger pro however those will look weird on the ego style but they work, you could also try a mini box mod like the istick 20 etc but if you want to stay in vein of a cigalike, use v2cig, green smokes, or the ego styles

Newbie used to smoke 7 cigs a day, then Blu cigalikes, knows nothing about replaceable batteries nor their care, charger types nor makers, coils nor how to determine which fit which tanks, etc. Seems to me what you recommended or at most at this point...maybe an Innokin Endura T18 or Eleaf iStick Mini 10w would be more suited to her at this point.

actually i would recommend halo g6 cigalike if you want to stay with the cigalike type ecig but wanna get away from blu, they are just like blu and v2cigs but they have better ejuices imo, once again tribecca if you like tobacco and you get points for posting reviews, buying stuff from their site and can get free eliquid from doing those

halo charges premium prices for eliquid though but worth it to me, i was only vaping 2ml a day 6mg nic and a 30ml for $20 lasted me 15 days, now i use about 1/2 ml a day as i only vape it in the morning, then onto my sub ohming

next recommendation is v2cigs however like i said, ego style / halo triton or something like those if you wanna move up

Call me crazy for asking, but...you all are recommending sub-ohming to a newbie who has only used Blus in the past?

That exactly what I was thinking! I went from cigalike (Blu) to an Aspire Nautlas Mini starter kit and am pretty happy 4 months in.

I went to a store near me for advice when I started out, and I figured they could help me with any newbie issues and questions on down the line, which they did. If you want to buy on-line vs a store near you, just search for the best price, like everywhere (Google). You will want an starter kit, extra battery or even two!, juice, and extra coils. Here, from a newbie to a newbie, are some things I learned the hard way:

A Stick or ego battery is rechargeable, like a phone. MAH on the battery refers to how long is is SUPPOSED to last between charges. 1100 MAH will last 11 hours, for example. But it doesn't. Get an extra one so you can have one to use and one that is charging.

The tank has to fit the battery, so that is why a kit is good. Kit also comes with the CORRECT charger for that battery. Important - just because a charger fits doesn't mean it is safe to use it.

The kit will come with maybe two coils. Just search that site, or google for coils that fit that tank (like Aspire mini tank). You will want extra coils. I am a heavy vapor and use them at the rate of one in a week. Oh, and prime your coils before vaping when you change them. Look for a YouTube video on it. Look for YouTube videos on everything!

Juice - a never ending quest. Very best thing is to go to a shop where they will let you test the juice (a juice bar). They put a mouth barrier plastic piece on their vape device and you taste from there (that is how it worked for me anyway). If you can't do that, order the smallest bottle they have, of a few things. I used menthol for a few days, then branched out to sugar cookie. Just think of a flavor that is your favorite thing to eat You can mix it half and half when you are filling a tank, BTW. If you are ordering juice on line only, pay attention to how long it takes to get it in the mail, you don't want to run out. How much to get? You will have to wait and see how much you vape, but I go through it a LOT faster than I thought. Two 15ml sizes should get you through a few weeks, though. Don't get a 30ml unless you KNOW you like it.

At MVS on the page for the Topbox, scroll down and look on the left side of the page for links to coils.

SSOCC coils (newer tech) 1.2 ohms (or 1.5 ohm)is a great starting place for ohms with the Topbox. Get 4 or 5.
OR
On the Vertical coils it comes in .5 ohm. I would get 4 0r 5.
OR
Ni200 coils if you want to try temperature control.

Personally I would start with the 1.2 or 1.5 as you are coming from a cig a like and the lower ohm coils may be too much.

Don't worry - you made a good purchase.
Read the instructions that come with the kit. If you want some detailed info, check out pbusardo's review on YouTube - it goes into the device in detail. It's a long video but could be worth the watch particularly for how to access the settings and functions for the mod.
I'd suggest starting with the 1.2Ω coil and vaping it in Wattage mode, starting around 12W and bumping up the wattage until you get the vape you like. Put the coil in the tank base and make sure that it's snug. Prime the coil by dropping several drops of your liquid directly into the top of the coil and a drop or two on each of the feed holes on the side of the coil. Fill the tank and get it all together and close off the airflow ring. Take a couple of good hard pulls on it to finish priming the coil. Without firing it, adjust the airflow to get the type of pull through the tank that you like, then start vaping. Again, adjust the wattage until you get a good vape that doesn't taste burnt - if it does start getting a burnt taste, turn the power back down. Work in small increments, a watt or two at a time at most. You'll find the happy spot for the setup with a little experimenting, and it will help break in the coil.

This sounds perfectly fine to me.
I take a bit of flack (on this forum) for presenting the argument against certain high power kit (e.g. iJust2) and suggesting people who find vaping less easy to adapt to might not do so well with sub-ohm kits.
It frustrates me that newbies are often sold the 'power hardware' and then complain they can't vape 18mg liquid at 30w.
A good box mod with a tank and coil capable of running from 10-50w is a great buy for anyone.
You have made a good choice. Worst case, buy a little low-power tank, enjoy your red box mod and vape on!

3 atomizers won't last that long, be aware that some shops (online and B&M*) charge a premium for single atomizers.

It has become an embarrassing fact that some UK bricks and mortar shops* are now taking advantage of their customers selling single coils at unacceptable prices.

I would recommend having most of a 5-pack at all times if you are committed to a certain tank. Nothing worse than running out.

Welcome Newbie, and congratulations on your vaping journey! I quit tobacco and have been vaping for 8 months now. I've been through a few devices and am currently using the Kangertech Topbox mini and I have the Subox mini as well - IMO novice opinion both are great devices but the Topbox makes for easier fills. If I had started with the Kangertech in the first place I probably would have saved a lot of money on devices.

I'm not sure what the fuss is about with sub ohm for a newbie. I didn't set out to sub ohm, but have been since a month after I started vaping. Just know to lower the nic content with a sub ohm coil (3 or 6 mg). I've tried all the coils that came with the starter kit and prefer the SSOCC 0.5 ohm coils. Replacement could come in packs of 5 - I can get genuine kanger coils on eBay for $10-15. Play with the airflow and wattage until it's just as you like it - your sweet spot. At first I liked the airflow at the smallest setting and now I prefer it wide open. My wattage is typically set at 30.

Juices are a very personal thing. I didn't even want to try tobacco or menthol flavors. I didn't want to associate vaping with smoking. My only advice is to try as many as you can until you find several that you love and rotate them. I change flavors almost every fill. I used to enjoy spending a couple hours at my vape shop here - they have a lounge and encourage trying out all the flavors you could possibly imagine. I still go now and then, but they have imposed huge taxes on eliquid where I live so now I purchase my favorites online and don't pay any taxes at all.

I know this can be overwhelming, but it won't seem so for long and soon you will feel the freedom we all have from nasty tobacco - and I never dreamed I would be able to say that! You have a ton of wise folks here to support you on your journey. You've got this!

+1. No more than 12mg juice, get several coils-- I suggest 2 or 3 of the 1.2/1.5 and 2 or 3 of the .5s. That way you can give each regiment an extended test and still have enough spares to last you once you know what you want to reorder. It's much cheaper to order coils online, but it takes the shipping time to get to you and you don't want to run out. If you do, you can duck into t vape shop; they all carry Kanger coils. But you'll pay more for them. And I also recommend Nitecore chargers. That Topbox is good gear, and it can be set up a number of different ways. I'm sure it will work for you. Come back when it gets in and we'll teach you how to set it up and get it working.

Just a side note on the coils/atomizer purchases. I did some research into buying on the web and buying at my local B&M Vape Shop and it turns out that unless I buy a massive quantity on the Web my local is exactly the same cost after shipping. Maybe even cheaper if I do not want to wait.

MVS is doing what they can from their end, and with the tracking number you can do the same with your local branch. Most likely is that it was delivered to an address that closely matches yours; they can and will track it down if possible, though it can take upwards of a week to sort out. Worst-case is that it was stolen from the box and it will come down to an insurance claim issues..

I determined that the cause of mine - which happened twice from the vendor until I changed it - was the address I entered, which specifically matched the way the USPS designates our address. When I changed it to the more "commonly used address" rather than the one the USPS designates(!), it delivered without a problem. And some vendors tie their order systems through the USPS addressing system to auto-complete/correct shipping addresses, which would concern me at this point given my experience.
We have received mail with the same house number on a different street, slightly different house number on our street, and mail addressed to the previous owner who hasn't lived here for 18 years. For all their automation and regulations, the USPS is not the model of efficiency as once proclaimed in Miracle on 34th Street..
