Urgggg Davide tank air flow quirk / flaw burnt coils

4 new Davide's ... Issue that the protank does not have.
An air bubble can form in coil section and juice does not flow down from the top glass section.

If you unscrew the bottom and turn It over you will get a few drips than due to the viscosity of the juice and the two small holes a vacuum is formed. NO FLOW!

Air will not flow in until you angle the tank.

I thought 1 of 4 came with a bad coil as the juice got nasty dark. Than on another tank with a third refill I was vaping sitting in a chair keeping the k100 in an upright position. Funk taste, so I hold the k100 out and slightly tilt to the side. A big airbubble flows out the hole and a few drops of burnt juice flowed into the top glass part of the tank (tainting the tank)

If you use the Davide be sure to smoke at angle and NOT up and down. This airflow quirk has caused two burnt coils

This will now get me to try out a protank II hopefully not an issue.

I will still keep using these as I like them but I know to angle and twirl now

Washed and cleaned
Was able to duplicate with just water
Try taking base off fill up glass chamber with water through fill holes let over flow .... Turn the tank over sometimes it flows sometimes nothing till I lean it over and it pours out.

Cleaned everything before I started
The second tank to burn a coil had been cleaned than used enough for multiple refills

Just curious hold your mod up and down and hit the Davide with a solid long pull. Stop for a second than another big pull.
At this point if I tilt it I will get a few small bubbles (expected airflow, just trapped bubbles)

On a third pull run without moving the mod, the slight burn will start and a decent bubble if you tap the tank or tilt it

I will be buying rebuilding supplies next month.... Looks simple enough
Tomorrow night I will shoot some pics

Thank you for the feedback!

Can you please let me know that best way to break in one of the coils ... I just did a simple wash with water, let dry drip some juice on and install. let sit in filled tank for a minute... dry pull until I have a strong smell taste... hit the switch clean vape

Clean tank holding just water ... This is with no bottom, the two fill holes are wide open to the air and gravity

holdingwater.jpg

filled up under tap, turned it over a few drops come out, air flows up, water stays in....

Just a compare note ... This can not happen with protank ... in the protank the juice sits on top of the coil no fill holes it's just open all the way around (fixed post) and does not have to drip through the fill holes like a Davide (removable post requires something to screw into). The Davide is a two chamber clearomizer... top glass section and lower section with coil ...

I will be taking my dremel tool to one as a test ...

Think I just realized what you are describing. You seriously mean Dead on Vertical.

Ever watch a science experiment with a glass of water and piece of paper?

http://physicscentral.com/experiment/physicsathome/magicwaterglass.cfm

As soon as you tilt at all, you break equalization and allow flow:)

Since my mods never stay dead vertical for long, I cannot verify your experience. Not going to risk a burnt coil to verify.

Oh I so did this way back in the early 80's with Mister Wizard !!!! :) only Mr Wizard did it lifting a plate ... take a small plate, take a cup fill with water, set paper napkin on top of the glass of water, put the plate on top of that... turn the whole thing over... wait a couple minutes than you can now pick up the glass and the seal is strong enough to lift the plate

same flow issue with juice ....
It does not drain until you reach over a 30% angle, so if you only angle a little you may have this problem .. now that I am holding the mod at 45 + degrees it's working fine ... if the dremel doesn't solve this issue I will look into the protank II

Went through and did some destructive testing, I am holding the Davide at a useable angle

K100 with Crown 18350 generic batt

Local Store Watermelon
Coil registered 2.2 (marked as 2.4 came with tank)
Switched the coil back and forth between a ProTank and a Davide

Crown set to 3.7V
Coil (1) reads 2.2 via Crown 2.0
Protank --- As expected vapor and flavor (just like the k100 no crown with a fresh battery, no surprises here)
5 big pulls no issues
Davide --- Same as Protank
5 big pulls no issues
Coil (1) --- set to side in the good to go pile
Overall: Both tanks run perfect and vape production isn't to dramatic as to cause an issue vaping indoors

Crown set to 3.9V
Coil (2) reads 2.3 via Crown 2.0
Protank --- Larger vape production and slightly better flavor
5 big pulls no issues .... got some noise out of it at 4 & 5
Davide --- same as protank
5 big pulls --- slight funk at 5 ... pausing for a quick dry pull and vape funk taste gone
Coil (2) --- set to side
Overall: As long as not chain vaped increase in flavor is nice, but you are now forming a small cloud over your desk at work...
Davide likes it here for continued pull's in a small windows (puffing off on for a few minutes)

Crown set to 4.1V
Coil (3) reads 2.3 via crown 2.0
Protank --- vape production is huge and flavor is strong
5 big pulls --- on pull 3 hint of funk .... did not pull 4 to save coil .... waited a minute 5 big pulls on pull 3 same thing ...
Davide --- same as protank
5 big pulls --- hint of funk at the last bit of the 2nd pull ... 3 hint of funk ... had to make multiple dry pulls to get it going agin
Coil (3) --- set to side
Overall: Small puffy clouds of thickness now form over your desk and can be seen from across the cube farm
Protank likes it here but you have to pause and run a dry pull every 2 or 3 puffs

I burnt out a few more coils in the 4.3 to 4.9 Volt ranges.
Protank ... good for a few quick primers and a pull for a solid cloud ... let it sit for a minute and run some primers ... huge clouds but if you aren't careful with the primer pulls you can funk this up in a hurry
Davide: .... more dry pulls needed and quick fast bump pulls before a pull for a solid cloud .... make sure it's wet or you toast the coil fast ...

3.7V in office
3.9 to 4.1V stepping outside in smoking area
3.9 to 4.5V while driving home (usually a puff than it's a few minutes before another pull)

One thing this testing has done is I can fly through the crown bump settings

After a couple of tanks on 2 Davides and 2 Protanks all of the coils are broken in
All Davide's are running good now, just have to leave it angled at higher volts
I can now flip each Davide back to 3.7 and run a lot of back to back before an issue of funk occurs (just a trace)

The Volts can now be raised up .2 to .4 for solid flavor and no scorching (well more big back to back pulls but to many will still funk)
I am currently running 3.9 this morning at work for a small cloud and the occasional up to 4.3 for plumage
Didn't get what the biggie was over the plumage, now that have a Mod and not a little cig mod... I get it. I like clouds and the fact that I can still blow smoke rings
Will try bumping the volts up a little more after I run through this tank ...
