I just got back from flying from Orlando to Charlotte and back. I didn't have any trouble going through security. Had about 8 6ml bottles with me, 7 batteries, and four atties.

When I was boarding the plane in Orlando, I asked the flight attendant if I could use my "personal vaporizer" on the plane. She says "sure."

So, after the plane takes off, I asked the passenger beside me if she would mind if I vaped and I showed her my ecig. Then the flight attendant comes around with the beverages. She just about has a cow when she sees me vaping. 8-o

"Is that a fake cig? Shut that off and put it away! If you don't shut that off and put it away I'm going to confiscate it!" Holy cow! 8-o I try to explain to her, nicely, that it's a personal vaporizer, no smoke, no tobacco, etc. I tell her I asked when I boarded and I got permission from the other FA. She calls that one over. by now everyone wants to know what's going on! The first FA comes over and apologizes to me and says she didn't know it was a "fake cigarette".

Anyway, I put it away, but tried to explain to them that it is not dangerous and I thought that pilots and FAs were using them. "Oh no, US Airways has banned fake cigs. We are supposed to confiscate them. They can blow up during the flight!"

Anyway, enough of a scene was made and I was now a
"Person of interest". 8-o

So, if you're going to fly US Air, beware! :(

I wouldn't use one sitting in my seat on a plane. I can see why it would cause a comotion even though there is no way it will blow up. Why argue with them. I'm not sure they can legally take it from you either. When it comes time for me to get on a plane and fly cross country I'll just take it in the bathroom and smoke it in there. Who will ever know.

It wouldn't cross my mind to ask about vaping on a plane. If I was still on analogs I would have to go without during the flight anyway. So why ask and draw attention to yourself. I would get tired of explaining anyway.

If I absolutely felt the need, I would discreetly make my way to the bathroom........

Seems kinda nasty, but i guess it depends on what was done before ya
If ya know what I mean?

I haven't been on a plane in over a year, but I did take an 18hr non stop flight before and let me say it was brutal for me

If I were on a flight, I wouldn't ask for permission but I might tell the person next to me

You can cuff the e-cig up your sleeve and blow the smoke down your shirt, no one would smell it or see it

I know that vapor is not smoke but I don't know if vapor will set off a smoke detector in an airline bathroom. I do know that the flight crew takes a very dim view of people who "smoke" in the bathroom.

Inhale, but don't exhale. Problem solved.

I just flew U.S.Air also. I asked a FL. on the ground is they allowed e-cigs. She looked VERY puzzled and then said 'no, do you want to read the regs.' Didn't have the time and wasn't in the mood for an arguement so I passed. First fligh was at night. Pretty dark cabin. I just pointed the air nozzle at myself ,cupped the led, and had no problems. Second flight was daytime. Did the same but was much more careful and took lighter hits.

I could have done it descreetly, but I thought I remember some posts on here about them being okay on planes. FAs and pilots using them.

I guess I wanted to just be upfront with it and that's why I called it a PV. I guess I wanted to know what their reaction would be when I first asked while boarding. I was happy to see the FA was very casual with it and said "sure". :)

I did ask the person beside me (there were only two seats on our side) out of courtesy. But the second FA just went balistic!!

I guess I thought if I was upfront and casual with it, I would get an okay reaction. I really didn't want to be hiding with it, like some outlaw, and I didn't want to have to sneak around, like I'm doing something shameful. That's what analogs are for. :p

Anyway, it was quite a scene! Just wanted to give you all a heads up.
