Here's a link to something i'm going to try also.

SparkFun Electronics - LiPoly Charger - Single Cell 3.7-7V Input

For single cell lithium ion or poly. No need to remove battery just plug in usb or dc

And from the way it sounds you could vape while charging

Thinking about pairing it with this

SparkFun Electronics - Polymer Lithium Ion Batteries - 1100mAh

And put it in this

Pololu - 3-AA Battery Holder, Enclosed with Switch

And hook it to the atty with this

SparkFun Electronics - Jumper Wire - JST Black Red

I figure if i'm going to tear apart a 12+ dollar charger I can buy one with usb already on

Just a simpler way of doing what i set out to do. Anyone could buy this and do it then

Looks a good set of kit :)

Yeah was thinking to step it up to that one. Would need a 4 aa box or applicable project enclosure. That and I hadn't read the sheet yet to see if that one has built in protection like the other one. Could also pair up that charger with a 14500 or slightly bigger batt with tabs to hook a jst cable to to be able to just clip everything together.

Ok I checked it is protected

So it looks like with stevo_tdo's charger board from Sparkfun, one could get, (with the addition of a switch and some diodes) 5volts, 4.2volts, or battery voltage??

"Multi-Volt"...Nice!

It's a nice board that uses a good chip. And I like that the webpage links to all the documents.

2 issues.

First, re USB input: it states that the current draw is limited to 100mA in case the usb input is unpowered; such as connecting a mobile phone as power source I guess. This is a bit silly. But the board could be modified quite easily to get around this.

Second, and this is a bigger worry. The chip datasheet (http://pdfserv.maxim-ic.com/en/ds/MAX1551-MAX1555.pdf) says it is for Li-ion and doesn't mention anything Li-po. At this point not sure if this board really can be used to charge both types. It might well be true, but need a bit more convincing. Certainly for Li-ion it looks good.

Yeah, usb is what most people would want to use. I have a wall block that outputs 5v that would then charge at a rate of 280. Of course still looking for better options. Always looking.

This link will give you a list of the available chargers from maxim

http://para.maxim-ic.com/en/results.mvp?fam=batt_chrg

Currently going through that list now

Let's go off topic for a moment here. Now i'm on a atomizer/cartridge quest. I love the flavor and vapor from my m401 standerd 4 hole atomizers and hate the cartridge life. Was thinking of going with a 801 atomizer/cartridge though. Obviously large cartridge life, but what about flavor, vapor, etc. Or at the same time is there another cart that would fit my m401 atomizers.
