Guys, are you doing this just for the challenge, or for a real purpose?

Just be nice to vape at full voltage, and walk away with a charged battery!

I would like to put a plugin in my box mod, to use as a passthrough, that not only works from USB, but also from an old AC power source (5v DC (I have a whole drawer full of old converters)), and also a 12v Cig lighter converter that puts out 5 volts (for those long trips). So if I'm going to put a plug in the box, and the plug happens to have a charger attached for 5 bucks...

And yea, it's just fun!!

This is the one that would suit you

SparkFun Electronics - LiPoly Charger - Single Cell 3.7-7V Input

That is if you don't want to build one yourself. Also they have a 5vdc jack female to male usb mini plug too. If you just got only the max1555 chip you could use just the 5vdc input and use the converter plug when you wanted to use it via usb. Just food for thought.

I'm finishing up my blueprints so I can place my orders tomorrow

Just ordered everything this morning, will hopefully have everything before the end of the week. I think the most expensive things were the batteries. It's going to turn out nice.....

Well I'm still waiting on my parts to come in. Got everything else figured out though. Shouldn't end up being to hard to do it.

I hear ya -still waiting on my switches.

I've got everything else together, slotted the m401 battery connector to provide air to the atty, glued it in place... tried it out with just the on/off switch and have popped 2 of my 5 attys....WTF???

There's not THAT much difference in voltage between the 14500 and the 510 batts...worked out to .05amp more... I figured the first one might have been weak, but *two* of them???

Well, I only got as far as soldering the chips on the boards i bought. Decided to go out with the wife again for dinnner and that's as far as I got. I bought the capacitors but i still need to get my charge indication led's. Picked up some 1/4" jacks to use as atty connectors. Just waiting on my cases.

Boy these dang things were tiny. Glad i got the jedec soic to dip boards. I put a standard aa in the picks as a reference of size.

Wow...those ARE tiny!!!

I'm getting about 2.5 days out of a parallel 14500 setup, so I'm not as worried about it - but being able to just plug it into a micro-usb cable overnight when I'm traveling DOES have a certain attraction... let us know how hard it was to shoehorn into the box!

I got my boards done and the charger works but it's ugly as hell. I'm not even going to post pics until i get in the connectors i needed. I ended up severely rednecking up this thing. I mean ugly ugly, you look at it and think, damn why isn't this thing on fire yet. But the initial test works and now i just need to resolder the board with good looking connectors.
