Sorry if this has been covered.

I just received my new NEW VK Auto Shorties. These are my first autos from V4L and I noticed that they do not charge with the uncorded, push-in type, usb chargers. I did all the logical troubleshoots: verified that my manuals do charge, verified that the autos do charge with other devices, verified the usb port is working, verifed this with both autos.

Can someone give me a concrete or official answer on this? I'm assuming that this is normal and it has something to do with autos requiring threaded contacts. Or is something defective with mine. Thanks.

Well, I tested it out, and I am sorry to say the new autos will not work with the "universal" push-in plastic connector type of USB charger. It DOES work with all the screw-in chargers, USB and wall, and with the PCCs.

We did not notice this before, because we discontinued that type of charger, and didn't have them in our testing regimen. So thanks to everyone who pointed it out. But as far as I can determine, there doesn't seem to be any fix except to use the screw-in chargers.

Sorry, but i don't find an issue. I have the old style "push in" usb charger, and it works fine with a "new" shorty auto. I tested ALL of my batteries actually, and they all worked fine.

Hey Leaford,

You guys still sell the universal KR808D-1 push in charger. It's the USB charger with the cable on on the site.

Might want to put a note on that one that it doesn't work with the new batteries.

No, Sense, the one with the cord has the screw-in connector. And it does work with the new batteries, I tested it on those to begin with, and re-tested it this morning.

We stopped ordering the push in kind a long time ago, and discounted the remaining stock until it finally sold out. We never liked the push in type, and have had a LOT more problems with those than any other kind. Frankly, those ones are very finicky to get a good connection, and tend to break more easily.

Brooke, it will work with your manual batteries fine, and will work with our older auto batteries, but no, not with the newest batch of auto batteries. THe newest autos have a smaller hole in the center of the power post, and for some reason that doesn't work with the push in chargers. You can request the older batts when you order auto batts. Or, if you e-mail valerie@vapor4life.com, you can request to exchange your push-in charger for a screw-in charger.

But just to be clear, when we say push-in, we're talking about how the battery connects to the charger, not how the charger connects to the USB. You probably already got that, but I just want to be sure. You are new, after all. ;)
