I've read various opinions on other sites about charging in a usb port in a computer. Would love to know opinions of ecf members. Do you charge your batteries in your computer, or use a wall outlet adapter? Is it better to use a desktop computer or a laptop computer if you use a computer? Thanks!!

Both of the USB ports on the front of my desktop are blown thanks to a cheap off-brand charger. I suppose it could have been one port but when I saw that one not working, I just stuck it in the other one. Derp. So...in hindsight I would do what I have now. A multiport USB charger, one that goes to the computer and plugs in the wall as well. I paid $20 for it. I was using a wall adapter in the interim and those work quite well too.

Thanks everyone! I am going to start charging with the wall adapter that came with my kit. I love my laptop too much! :) With all the gadgets I have now, I really need to get a hub! You are right, no sense in risking the whole computer. Is it me, or does the wall outlet seem to take longer to charge?

The USB port on a computer is limited to 500 mAh and is shared if multiple devices are connected. Therefore, you don't get the full 500 mAh for your battery. That's why it takes much longer to charge via USB/Computer as opposed to charging from a wall wart.

Most multi slot chargers, plugged into the wall, also divide the voltage when multiple batteries are being charged at the same time, but still higher than the USB from a computer.

I usually use the usb ports on my computer, but about... idk. 30% of the time i use my cellphone charger or another generic usb wall charger. I've only ever used passthough batteries and never had a problem even when vaping and charging at the same time. I've even charged some el-cheapo, knock off, ego passthrough batteries before.

I use my laptop to charge my batteries so far. Works well since I'm always at my laptop anyway :)

I didn't need to order a USB to ac adapter either, since I already had 3 that came with other devices, way before I got into e-cigs.
