I am not surprised. Once upon a time I didn't had any antivirus protection on my PC and I got infected by one such "empty" and "formatted" USB flash drive. It was so severe that anytime I typed "antivirus" in any of my browsers it would be automatically shut down it was awful.

If it makes you feel any better, even if we had the most sophisticated antivirus systems in existence, the biggest security flaw would still be fitting behind the keyboard....

All the more reason to NOT use a computer to charge an E-cig device. I can just imagine the Chinese government putting something in one of these things and infecting millions of computers.
