Its been a long while since Ive vaped. I know Ill be a mtl or at most a restricted dtl vaper. I would like to get a mod that is tried and proven to last without the fire button failing after 2 months, a mod that i could vape while using the usb charger, and something that would last a half day or so on a charge. Size, weight, type and # of batteries isn't critical. Just a mod that is durable that I can set at a wattage and forget it. If you have a suggestion please throw them out. thanks

If you don't mind an internal battery mod get the Innokin Kroma-a Zenith kit. The Zenith is a brilliant tank according to pretty much anyone that has ever owned one - myself included.

As for the kroma-a mod, I don't have one. However it's a 2000mah internal battery so as long as you aren't vaping at silly wattages should last most of the day. The mod itself goes up to 70 watts and does support vaping whilst charging

Hope that helps you and good luck!

I agree with this. The other thing about the kroma kit is that if you’re buying a zenith tank anyway it makes the kroma mod cost an effective $20. Suuupercheap. This means that if it turns out you’re just not into the kroma mod, it’s still makes a good low cost backup

One of the 1st things you might want to get, as a vaper, is out of California...

Otherwise, I think several of the folks above gave some good things for you.. ;)
Depends a lot on whether you own property there. They still have the best weather. A lot of places that have permissive vaping laws are horrible in other ways. Finding a state with decent medical care for example, and permissive vaping laws is pretty mutually exclusive, and if it’s not that, it’s something else likely to kill you.

If durability is your number one concern the Geekvape aegis (single 26650) or the Geekvape Legend (dual 18650) mods would be your best bet. The are both mil-spec dust, water, drop rated and the toughest mods available. I don’t own either but have researched them quite a bit and they perform very well and the people that have them have been generally happy with them. Some others to look at, innokin proton, Smoant battlestar, or really any Smoant, Vaporesso, Tesla, Voopoo Mods are all solid mod makers. Just some more mods to look at besides what others have suggested. Good luck, I hope you get something you’re happy with.

I'd put the Innokin Zenith tank on a Geekvape Aegis Mini. Both mods have a 2000mah internal battery, but the Aegis is shockproof, waterproof, and dustproof. The Cerberus tank that comes with the Aegis Mini is a very decent tank, but the Zenith tank gets more accolades on this forum.

I didn't know we were recommending tanks as well as mods. I took a quick look at the OP's posts (from 2012) and it looks like he has experience with rebuilding. For a MTL RBA... you might look at the Kayfun Prime clones for an elegant design and restricted MTL. For a simple design and looser MTL, you might look at the SXK Doggystyle.

The Zenith that has been recommended several times uses prebuilt coils if that is something you want. One thing to note is that it cannot be completely disassembled for cleaning. You can only rinse it out. For me that's a huge con since I like to keep my tanks squeaky clean. Preferences vary but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I'd also skip any mod that has an internal battery. If it is your main user, you will probably notice a drop in battery life within the 1st year... maybe sooner. Lots of folks on the forum have tons of mods that they rotate so an internal battery is likely to last longer for them. But if it is your only user, it may happen quicker than you might think. It's also sometimes convenient to be able to throw in a spare fresh battery.

Since you want to use the USB, I highly recommend looking for a mod that uses USB C instead of micro USB. Micro USB is more prone to breaking. The NX75-A uses USB-C. It also is built like a tank.

Man, you can get 'em with find my mod features, temp control and all kinds of cool stuff.

But that Kroma kit is a pretty good setup.
If you do restricted DL or mtl the Zenith is awesome. Gives you a choice of straight or old school taper tip and comes with stickers....

I'd charge mine once a week before I switched to a temp control'd Zero pod. Now that's all I use.

thanks and don't be shy about posting your mtl setups.

Here's a photo that I had handy from another discussion.

size-comparison.jpg

Some comparisons of the mods that have been recommended in this topic...

The Innokin Kroma-a and Eleaf Pico 75W are the smallest. The Aspire NX75-A is slightly taller but it is more compact than most 18650 mods except for mods like the Pico with the battery sticking out. The Geek Vape Aegis Mini is slightly taller than the NX75-A even though it has an integrated battery. The largest are the Geek Vape Aegis Legend and Aegis 100w. They have a height similar to the Mirage in the Photo.

The Aegis, Aegis Legend and Aegis Mini are built like bumper cars so they are bulky. The NX75-A is a compact solid metal tank.

The Kroma-a and Aegis Mini have integrated batteries. Once the batteries decline, the entire mod is typically replaced. The others use replaceable batteries. I use 3000mah 18650 batteries.

The NX75-A has USB-C. The others have micro USB that is more prone to breaking. Accessing the USB on the Aegis 100w requires removing 2 screws and a plate.

that smok spiral can do both are there any other tanks that come with both systems?

I don't know the Smok Spiral. A jack of all trades is usually a master of none. Some of the tanks are cheap and you might want to have extras so that you have a backup if something breaks.

Here are some inexpensive clones...

SXK Doggystyle: $11.01 SXK Doggystyle Styled RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer - 3.5ml / stainless steel + PC / 22mm dia. at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
The doggy has almost a cult following here on the forum. It does have some quirks.

Coppervape Dvarw: $14.89 Coppervape Dvarw MTL Styled RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer - 5ml / 316 stainless steel + PEI / 22mm diameter at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Kayfun Prime: $18.89 YFTK Prime Styled RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer - 2ml / 316 stainless steel / 22mm diameter at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
