USB Manual Passthrough question

Just started to use my passthrough regularly... and I noticed this morning I am having to double tap the button to get it to activate... Could this be defective?

I can get it to fire on the first press but it seems like I have to have it Button up and perfectly horizontal.... otherwise cold blank air :/

Sadly this happens Whistles sir, there are a few techniques to resetting the button, but they're all of varying success. You can blow into the button a few times, massage it without pressing it down, give it a good smack on the table (opposite side of the button), or contact customer service if none of those work and they'll send you out a replacement.

I will look into that... but I'm not sure it is the button... now I am seeing that it fades in and out as I vap... but the massage and tap "stearnly" method is my next move.... also gonna search the forums to see if I can find a diagram of the innards incase I decide to take it apart (after I call CS ofcourse)

Has snow taken apart a passthrough before? or was that just the batt? hmmm check his vids

ah I think i have it.... my contact might be too low... at first i ruled this out because the carto's are hard to thread on... but now I am thinking I have a bad connection....

If I adjust the head "per the video tut" will that blow the warranty

Have you tried it on another output Whistles sir? Possibly it's not getting enough amperage. I've had three pt's, the first lasted for almost six months before it started having some output voltage drops, the second has been having the same button issues as you've been experiencing. Was able to resurrect it with the button massage, but it's still a little wonky. Using the third for now without issue. The second one tried on my computer, wall outlet with 2.2a output, and of course the car same results on each. Using the third one on the same outlets, no problems at all....

Nevermind, see it was a post issue. Usually if it's the post, you get nothing at all. Learn something new everyday.

I noticed it first in my car 5v 2.5 amp... now my computer... Gonna try the wall outlet real quick "providing amperage is acceptable limit"

btw... what is the max I can put on this thing?

*update* Worked fairly normal off the wall charger which is 5.2 volts at 1.2 amp

Max output I've seen is 5v at 2.27 amps sir, but that required the 2.2a adapter with a wow carto at 2.2 ohm. On the car adapter the output would drop to 4.6v because it couldn't put out amps needed for 5v.

hmmm... back to researching Ohm levels on carto's so I can figure out what i am pulling... cool cart's

Well it appears that both the wall charger, and car charger will have no problem running a cool cart "unless if I am figuring wrong" But at 5 Volts and 3.3 ohms (per a carto resistance chart I found on the boards" I am only using 1.52 amps...

Hello Whistles.....welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear you are having issues with the PT...have you tried raising the post? You will not void your warranty, as this would be the first suggestion by C.S. if you wished to try and fix the issue yourself. If this doesn't fix it just contact C.S. and they'll take care of you with a replacement.

Does the Carto screw down all they way and does it work on your batteries?

Hello Snow, Like I referenced earlier the carto's do go on but very hard to thread them in "almost felt like they were cross threading, but not" The fight all the way down...

I am going to review your video real quick and attempt to raise the post on the batt... yes the cart does work on my batteries

Maybe the battery threads need sanding? That sometimes needs doing if you use cool carts.

Would a pass-through work well on a MacBook Air? Read somewhere that you shouldn't have other stuff plugged in at the same time. My MBA is a hub for charging stuff, especially at night.

Zer0xity (sir or Ms.?) not sure if you can, but even if so, wouldn't suggest it. The risk is far lower on newer computers, but still a chance of burning out the mobo, usb port, etc. Would suggest using a wall wart or powered usb hub.
