I've been lurking here for awhile and have been vaping since October of last year. I've been using a manual 510 and really like it when it works properly. I'm still trying to work out some of the negative things that have me going back to analogs and recently bought a USB passthrough for at home.
Here's my question: Seems like I get A LOT more vapor from using the passthrough but wayyy less of a throat hit. Am I doing something wrong? I'm also wondering if it could be the difference in juice brands...

Also, how often are people refilling their carts? I was under the impression a fully loaded cart could get me through the day and I think that's where a lot of my frustration lies... I'm refilling the cart about every 2 hours. Is this normal or am vaping too hard?

Thanks for the input!

Juice brand and nic levels definitely affect vapor and throat hit. In my experience with my 510, I get more of both with the passthrough.

I wish I could get 2 hours out of my 510 carts! You could look into the 510 cart mods to help with this. Or if you're interested in trying another PV I recently grabbed a KR808D-1 and am very happy with the carto longevity between refills. I still use the 510 when convenient, as I do get a little better throat hit and vapor, but the 808 is definitely growing on me. You can get an adapter for the 510 battery that will let you try out the 808 cartomizers without investing in the whole kit.

Thanks for the input! Good to know I'm not crazy :) One more thing: Does anyone else get a really harsh feeling in the lungs, almost like a tightness? I can't figure out if it's my drawing method, the atty, or an unfilled cart. I'm thinking it might be running my cart dry but sometimes it happens on a new one.

Some of it is just the newness of the action and you're lungs perhaps doing some self cleaning but if you 'lung inhale' and you're vaping a dry cart - that can be Really harsh. You should top off as soon as you sense a lessening of flavor, if you wait until empty, you're putting at stress on the atty that could kill it. Dry attys die. Also on new attys - I know you said carts ;-) but on attys there is that shipping/primer fluid that needs to be blown out - that also can taste nasty and give your lungs a work out ;-)

Hit the button a moment before taking a drag and let off a moment before finishing. That will give you the best results. Sometimes either long slow draws or if the atty needs 'waking' some huffing it like a cigar or pipe helps. A few drops on the atomizer bridge (not 4 though) can help on vapor production but if you're not getting vapor and you have a full cart then it's likely that the atty is flooded - usually from too much dripping or overfilling the cartridge. Usually you can vape through that but you can also remove the atty and cart and blow out the atty from the thread end into a paper towel. Drop 1 drop on the atty and reassemble and back to vaping.
