USB passthrough kinda working

Hey guys, new member here. Am loving my e-cig so far (901) and I just received a USB passthrough from PS for it.

I set it all up and plugged it in and it seemed to work great for a few minutes. Now it seems to be on the fritz. Sometimes the LED lights up alright, but then after 1-2 seconds flashes brighter a few times and then turns off. Sometimes sucking harder/softer allows it to work longer, but it is very inconsistant. Any ideas on what I could try, as I'd rather not send it back as PS is moving the next few weeks

I also have one that I just received that appears tempermental as well. I e-mailed them about mine and said they would send one out to replace it and I could send the old one back after thier move. Any issues with PS can be tended to via a simple e-mail as they work well to solve customer issues. I love the customer service from them and thats one of the reasons I have become a repeat customer.

I have written them, but after playing around it seems to only happen after the first couple inhalations after dripping, or when a cart gets dry. Like it's almost meant to do it so it doesn't burn out the atomizer. Makes me wonder if by design it is suppose to do this.

No, it is not supposed to malfunction when the cart goes dry. It is just a couple of wires in a tube.
I want to say something and I hope people will listen.

The switch goes bad when liquid gets in.

The solution is a manual switch

Need to make them like bastage does. I bought bastage e-cigs stack and there is a USB passthrough and its wonderful. Strong cord and switch. Online stores don't make them like this for sure!!! I would love to know how to make them. It makes the 901 vapor great. I love it,because I can use it with my APC Powerpack or at computer. This bastage one is well made. I have already went thru two passthroughs and they won't last. I have a feeling that Bastage's will last. Bastage is a member here on the forum.

Yeah bastage definitely was one of the pioneers with some of his mods. Thanks to him, maddog, and countless others, I've got about 4 mods done now and the magnum/detonator is on my short list to try next. The usb passthrough mod is by far the most simple mod out there and I daresay anyone should be able to put one together. There are some great diagrams that people have drawn up here that I constantly refer back to check my wiring.

I wouldn't think liquid getting into the switch is the problem. The first time I used it, it had this problem. It works fine for the first few puffs after dripping, or a new/topped off cart, then the problem starts. I'm fine with it not lasting forever, but I'd like to get some use out of it. I've maybe had the equivalent of 5 analogs using it. I'll clarify in another e-mail to PS and ask them about it. Thanks for all the responses though! Such a helpful bunch here in this forum.

check as many sources as you can. other USB ports preferably on other systems.
sometimes the passthrough is just fine but the port is temperamental.

Green, I definitely concur with Candy Girl - try other power sources, like a powered USB port. There have been many instances of passthroughs not working correctly due to insufficient current output.
