USB Passthrough MOD works in my computer but not an AC adapter........

I just built a simple USB mod using a USB cord, a switch, and a 510 connector. I connected the black wire to the outside of the 510 connector and I connected the red wire to one side of the switch and the other side of the switch is connected to the center of the 510 connector.

The mod works when plugged in to my computer but not in an AC adapter.

Does anyone know why this would happen??

No, I don't but it probably has something to do with the amps. One of the mod gurus will be able to help you with this.

Yea maybe your right. I think the output of the adapters is only 500mA. Thanks

Your PC USB port only puts out .5 or less amps. A good USB wall adapter is rated at 2.0 amps. I won't risk my PC with any ecig much less a mod.

Could the wall adapter be seeing the unregulated mod as a short, and thus not providing any power to it? I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that most standard PTs had at least some electronics to keep the wattage/amperage at a designated level.

I think I just need a new wall adapter with 3amp output rating. I am using a 2.5 ohm atty and at 5v that is 2 amps (I=V/R). Come to find out my adapter is only rated at 500mA (.5amps). Oops

Be careful when using a PC to power a passthrough. I'd recommend you plug it into a powered USB hub at first and see how that works out.

I've never cut into a USB cable or even studied the pin-out so I can't tell you which lines are for power and which are for data. Maybe double check your connections.

I double checked and i'm pretty sure its the two outside pins. I checked with my multimeter to find out which was positive and negative but sinse i'm not using a MOFSET or something similar the polarity shouldn't matter. I'm going to order a 2amp USB wall adapter to see if that works.
