I think a new thread re: sharing experiences with passthroughs is in order. Personally, I use a joye 501 passthrough and like it. Always seems to provide CONSISTENT power. Does anyone have experience about how long these last?? Also, if it uses a battery, then doesn't this battery also have a life expectency equal to the same charge/recharge cycles? If so, what does one gain with a passthrough? Can you leave it plugged into computer, or will battery overcharge??? I trust others have similar questions...they don't come with instructions.

I use my V4L pass-thru quite frequently - I like it because it operates at 5 volts instead of 3.7, which really brings some flavors to life. I'm guessing they have a life expectancy of several months, anyway. I have read that it is not good to leave them plugged in unattended - if they got stuck "on", they could be a fire hazard.

my 901 auto PT lasted a week before the internal wiring came loose and all it would do was blink at me. First PT down for the count.

My 801 Manual PT lasted 2 weeks. I'd started a new atty as was getting it broken in when I was removing it to blow it out and the PT connector broke off in the atty. Second PT down and lost one atty thats stuck on the the broken connector. No 801 batteries or charger, as I planned to use this as an exclusive PT set up for home and office use.

Have had my 501 PT for 4 days. If this one doesn't last more than 2 weeks before breaking, I just may give up vaping all together.

I'm my estimation, between attys, batteries that don't hold a charge, chargers, juices and replacement blank carts....without the PT option it's just not a real economic alternative.

Well this makes me feel a little better not really though. So far my PT has lasted over a month and it rocks. I bought another one for a back up and it sucks. Brand new it hits really weak seems these are inconsistant at best Chineese crap at its worst. A pcc really helps with the batt problem and so far has worked well for me. Maybe a 5v mod is worth the money however ive seen people have probs with them to.

O got a low cost Chinese POS passthru and it worked GREAT I love passthru's , however it lasted about 1 week before the end cap fell out with the atty attached. :-x

I have been promised a replacement by the supplier ( Reputation is everything in the current market ! ) so I should see a new one soon . I will modify it so that it cannot pull apart ( small screw holding it in or something ? ) :D

anyhow USB passthru's give a nice big hit without burning the juice , ( I Have a 6volt device that is TOO hot for me at this time , I'm getting some HV atty's for it to see if that helps )

Got a 901 manual PT from VaporKings for Christmas. Love it. I don't believe it is a battery charger type because it only works while plugged in. Not sure about the safety of leaving it plugged in, I disconnect if I'm not at the desk.

Anyone know about the voltage of these? I've heard the question posed on other threads without reading a definitive answer. Not enough of an electonics dude to have a meter.

well i made my own pt and i love it no problems what so ever the connector isnt just put in there held by plastic i jb welded it in there and it has a 3amp button switch so dont have to worry about it going bad as soon as most of them do no inline battery though i have room i could put one in it if i wanted just dont feel like it, has a blue led then when you press the button it turns hot pink... i have another one i made and it is just all around a tank its made from 1/2 inch airline only has a 1 amp switch but it has a green led that turns red when pressed and since its for a 901 which draws only 1amp anyhow plus the button is from a mouse which gives it more durability (more clicks before wearing out.) idk how many times my foot got caught on the cord and i ripped it out of the plug and it flew across the room lol. i have not had a bad experience with one yet... cept when i tried to make one that was touch sensor... it only broke because when i was making it i got frustrated and threw it across the room haha bunches of parts and time flying everwhere haha

If so, what does one gain with a passthrough?
Not running out of charged batteries! I use my passthroughs all of the time. I keep my laptop nearby, so it's always plugged in. I also got a USB car adapter, so I use it while I'm driving.

On the 6 hour drive to get my stepdaughter, my husband would have batteries and I'd have my passthrough. Inevitably, he'd need to borrow my passtr=hrough, buecause his PCC couldn't keep up. We finally bought a dual USB car adapter, so now we both use our passthroughs for the drive! :D

I rarely use anything but my passthrough, but I work from home, so that helps. But now my husband can use the single car adapter on his way to & from work, so it conserves the batteries to use for his work breaks.

I heard from a couple different sources that a USB Car adapter is not powerful enough to power a passthrough, so I didn't get one, but it sounds like you were able to find one that works.

Would you link me to it?

Yep, works fine for me. I got both (single & dual) at Walmart, in the electronics/game section. Don't have a link, sorry. But they do have some online - I don't think that is the brand I bought, though.
