Does anyone know if this is harmful to your pc? I know my wireless keyboard/mouse get their power from my pc but I wonder to get the atty hot enough to create vapor if anyone has had pc problems (ie power supply problems) because of it?

I strongly suggest never hooking passthru to computer. A short can damage a computer. To me it isn't worth taking the chance! I would recommend buying an inexpensive USB hub to power the passthrough.
BTW...Your wireless keyboard and mouse get their power from batteries in them. The transceiver get's it's power from the PC.

Even before I built my current main PC, I was running a USB keyboard, mouse, 2 external drive, charging my phone, running a USB external network adaptor and plugging in my Kindle.

Not all passthru's have a battery. The way I look at it is, If something should go wrong, I can either destroy a PC or a USB hub. I'll lose a hub.
I destroyed a motherboard with a USB memory stick. The memory stick shorted out and not only burnt trace on the board but also burnt the USB controller. I couldn't use anything USB. I tried to salvage by putting a USB PCI card into the PC. The system kept shutting off for no reason. So something else was damaged in the process.
I don't trust the passthru's enough to take that chance. IMO
I'm not saying it will happen....just saying personally I'm not taking a chance. Especially when you can catch a powered USB hub on sale for less than $20 and the motherboards I buy are usually in the excess of $100. And don't get me started on laptops 
KR8 passthru's don't have a battery, the 510 ones do. It's unlikely it would damage a computer, the passthru would just die, but it can happen.

Your right joker, I brainlocked, I've changed the batteries enough. I do have a KVM switch to run all my pc's with one monitor, kb,m etc. and it has an available usb port empty I can use. I was just picking brains to see if anyone ever experienced any probs.
It is a perfect adaptor for passthru's... you could even use 2 on it at the same time.
I think I may have lost my inline battery on my 510 pass-thru. Retail stores like Radio Shack stock these things?
exactly my motherboard cost me almost 300 alone or a usb hub for about 2-5 dollars that protects my motherboard

My local Radio Shacks doesn't carry any rechargeable lithium batts. I have 4 around me. I usually get my batts from batteryjunction.com.
Thanks joker, I know cignot.com stocks 'em, just didn't wanna wait. Hate using my 510 batt's at home!
