I haven't vaped in a couple of years, but my batteries and accesories are all dead. I used to vape the manual Joye 510's. I need to ordwer a few more batteries and cartomizers/atomizers. Before I go back to the 510, is there a new nthing new I shou ld be looking at? Are carto's still giving the best vape with them? What new tech am I missing?

I started with Joye 510 stuff and then stepped up to eGo type batteries and clearomizers. eGo batteries and clearos will give you more vaping time between charges and refills. I grew weary of constantly having to add more drops of liquid to the 510 cartridges. eGo batteries allow you to use any 510/eGo threaded device.

LOL, if you only knew what a loaded question that is. My recommendation for someone starting out is the eGo Twist, Vision Spinner or Smoktech Winder vv battery and Kanger Evod clearomizer. IMO this is the keeping it simple for the newbie setup.

Others will be along to add their :2c: Good Luck :)

Oh, padawan, much changed the vape scene is!

510s and cartos are still with us. If you loved it and have a backlog of equipment that would otherwise be landfill, then by all means, stock up and go.

But over the past couple years, you have missed some big improvements. If cigalikes are your thing, check out the Joye eRoll. It's an automatic that has shorter battery life than your 510s, but comes bundled with a fast-charging (and classy looking) portable case that makes it easy to swap-and-charge two batteries all day long. The eRoll delivers higher, more consistent voltage than the 510, so you get much better hits. And it comes with a very easy-to-fill tank system that uses no filler material. Proprietary connections, though, so not compatible with any of your 510 gear.

Ready to move up in battery size? The eGo pen-size battery now comes in variable voltage models -- including the Twist, the Spinner, the Winder, and several others. VV lets you tune in the best voltage for your delivery device and juice flavor. Pair that feature with the newer generation clearomizers, like the Viva Nova for warm top coil, the Protank/Evod/MT3 for cooler bottom coil, and you'll have a whole new experience with taste and vapor production.

I started with the 510 early this year. Picked up (and test drove) the eRoll for a friend recently and, have to say, I was seriously impressed with that little beauty. But for myself, I'm now rocking a Vamo with Kanger Protanks and using Spinners as back-up.

Start your browsing, as you have much to catch up on. And welcome back to vaping.

I always feel like questions like yours should be answered with more questions before giving any advice.

How big a factor is the size for you? If you stick to cigalikes you'll have the familiar constant charging of batteries. If you want longer battery life you'll be looking at mods.

Are the 510s warm enough for you or do you want more intense hits? A standard ego or mech (what we call the older type mods without variable voltage/wattage these days) will give you about the same as your 510 batts but a VV/VW mod will let you turn up the power.

Good question and thaks for the tips. Size doesn't matter. Coming from the 510, I'd love longer battery life and heavier vapor. At the time, they seemed to be the best, but I can already see that lots of improvements have been made in that time. To be honest, I'm having trouble re-learning the terminology.

The clearomizers sound like a great idea. Last I remember, we were pulling the poly out of the atomizers and putting a piece of food grade silicon in there to give a drip style hit.

I did go through a ton of carto's and batteries, so more reliability would be better. I'd love to get a nice package for $60 or so. I just don't know whether to stick with what I know or ride the new wave of tech. The Vamo with Kanga's looks pretty cool. More $ then I was thinking, but if there is other stuff with similar improvements, I'd be happy. Otherwise If everyone agrees they are worth it, I'll just pony up.

Just to make sure you know -- that link is for the EU plug version (of the charger). Other versions are available ... had to point that out, because I have no idea where NEPA is!!

I noticed that in regards to the plug. NEPA - Northeast PA.

I've been looking at my previous vendor to see how the prices compare, but they don't carry the Vamo. Is there anything by Joye that compares? The 10 days may be tough.

Get an ego + clearo locally so you will have a backup if you drop the Vamo or lose it, better than starting to smoke again. Also less frustrating if a battery runs out and you have forgotten to charge the spare.

OK. I'm thinking of going with the Vamo, but the 10 days is killing me so I just purchased a replacement battery for the 510 and a Kanger 510 T4 Clearomizer. This is close to what I used to use, with a twist of improved tech. I don't remember clearomizers for my previous vaping experience. They must be newer. Even the cartos were new at the time, if that dates me.

I figure I'll have some time to decide over the weekend. Keep the suggestions coming. Otherwise it will be Vamo/Kanger.

Ordered a Vamo ViVi from overseas. Would've prefers ordering more locally, but I just couldn't find it. I did get some parts for my 510 to hold me over.

I've been vaping with a very old Prosmoke and I hate it. Very little flavor, vapor and storage. Cannot wait until I get my items.

I never used a variable voltage, but I have worked with a bit of DC power. I'm kind of looking forward to playing around with the voltages and just figuring stuff out.

Smoked one cig yesterday and one this morning. It's not as tough as it could be, but a better PV would help.
