Using any mini usb cord to charge Inferno battery?

My Inferno charger has a short or something in it. Basically when I plug it in I have to lay it a specific way for the light to come on indicating that it's charging. I'm wondering if using a different mini usb cord such as a PS3 controller's and plug that into the wall adapter will damage the battery at all? Or does this not matter?

any cord that fits will work fine i used to use a 10foot ps3 cord for mine to use as a pass through.
