using cell phone adapter for passthrough?

Hi all,

I have an old cell phone charger that disconnects into two pieces (to plug the cell into a PC USB) Can I use the wall outlet part with my Joye passthrough so I can hook it to an outlet if I have to? Will it cause damage?

Not sure what others would say, but I have used my cell (plug to USB) with my 510.. it worked with no issues.. on a side note, I didn't use it for a long time, was only waiting for batteries to charge.

Amp output ratings may matter. amps = volts/resistance. If your power supply is 5 V output, and you have a 2.5 ohm atomizer, you would want 5/2.5 = 2A (2000 mA) rating on the power supply output.

(and a 3 ohm atomizer needs a power supply delivering 5/3 = 1.7 A current, if it's 5V output)

(That's why you see people recommending a 2A output for the cigarette-lighter-to-USB adapters for cars)

Be careful if you look for an AC-USB supply online. Some of the multi-port USB ones state 2A, but it's actually 500 mA per port maximum.

it's 5.0V x .7 amp... prob can\t use it huh? I just don't want to damage anything...

It will run, but not great. It will run like it would on a PC USB socket.

I am using my 510 pt on my wall plug that came in the kit. Labeling states 5v/500ma.
I found a Samsung wall plug just like my 510 plug at work and it says 5v/750ma. I have used it to charge my 510 batts but my pt won't work on it.
Any explanations?

Yes, the IQ dual 2A is a good one, what I've been using for almost a year. Able to handle cartos/atties down to 2.5 ohms on a true (no inline battery) pass through.

I've found the iPhone wall plugs work great for charging my batteries and work like a champ with my passthrough.
