I'm just wondering if anyone has tried around for making any mixes using things like Vanilla or Coconut extracts to add to their juices.

Today, after reading up a bit, I decided to try it for myself. Having just one day under my belt of vaping and no previous experience mixing things like this(besides somehow aceing chemistry and understanding more than I should have in that class in highschool) I went to work mixing different volumes of store-bought USP Glycerin and Imitation Coconut Extract.

Now first, I know that we are not supposed to use oil-based anything or oil in our attys just because its bad for them(don't remember why, just remember oil and sugar is a no-no). So I went and looked at all of the ingredients and nearly half of the flavors were either Oil extract, or full of PG, water, flavor and alcohol.

After about 2 hours of mixing around and having my girlfriend and aunt try it out, I got the right mix of it and decided to keep a small container full of it for dipping/dripping if my nic-juice were running low.

After this long pointless story, I wanted to know what experiences, if any, people have had with any of the store-bought extracts that you would find on the baking aisle.

They remained there.

I've spent more than a bit of time reading ingredients lists on extracts. I think that the PG, water, alcohol and flavor are probably safe, but I've read that they are weak enough that you have to use a significantly larger ammount to get the flavor. You don't want to add more than about 20% of dilutants, (water, alcohol, flavoring) to a mix or you start loosing vapor. (then you basicaly have to cook the water out before it will hit correctly.)

What % of extract did you end up needing to get it to taste right?

Actually, I have flavours that are to be added in the permille range, 1:1000, and they often consist of mostly PG. That by itself doesn't say anything.
Question is rather, how much of that stuff do you need to add to your juices, and that is where baking flavours are a problem; if you have to add in the 2-digit-range, it's too much for my taste.

Well put, I wasn't fully awake yet. That is exactly why they remain on the shelves.

Well, I finally got it down to about .7ml of VG and for the flavoring it was about 3.4-3.6ml of the Imitation Coconut Flavoring. Not too bad actually, but I wanted a little sweeter so I upped it to an even .4ml. So for that particular one, I found that anywhere from 30-36% was the good spot.

And as for the losing vapor problem, I had none. There was about 10x more vapor coming out of my mouth compared to my stock pineapple cart(though that is PG and not VG)

I will be testing those extracts as additives more extensively when I have some more funds coming in. Because it can be a life-saver in a quick pinch. For about 6 bucks, I have enough materials to make ~200ml of juice(non-nic) and cut that in with my nic-juice to make more flavors. :)
