Yep, it felt weird at first, but that passes. I'm actually stealth vaping in stores now....most people think I'm chewing on pen or something, as long as they don't see vapor.
I do not feel weird vaping in public. At least not any more than putting a piece of paper with tobacco in it in my mouth and almost setting my face on fire to light it. From day one I have vaped openly in public and have had nothing but good responses. I have found, at this point in my life, that I no longer care what the general public thinks about me. Life is too short to let their opinions influence my happiness.
If it's a situation where I can explain myself then I have no problem vaping in public. On the other hand, in a situation where I cannot explain myself, I don't i.e. sitting in traffic with a car beside me.
I can't find words to describe how little I care what someone might think of whatever I'm doing, including vaping. I am just too damn old to give a ...... (kind of a crabby ol' gal too I guess.....

When I first started vaping I was slightly uncomfortable vaping in stores and at restaurants. But, I got over that pretty quickly. More of us SHOULD BE vaping in public!! We vapors need to bring the vaping experience to the public. There is not enough GOOD info out on vaping at this time and the general public is ignorant. We as vapors need to be seen, we need to educate and we need to shake this negative stigmata associated with vaping. I vape in public regularly, and have had great conversations with curious smokers looking to get into e-cigs and have also help educate nonsmokers and other bystanders on what vaping is, how it works and how it IS NOT smoking.
I get excited when I see other people vaping and enjoying shooting the shizz with them!!!
Vaping in public is a Public Service...........so please Vape On!!!!! and help educate the layman....

Vaping in public doesn't bother me any more than smoking did, however, I generally do not vape in places where I would not smoke, such as a restaurant or in a store. Certainly part of it is that since I began vaping to replace smoking, I kind of transfer the same feelings or sensibility that I would have had in a smoking situation. I suspect that this will mellow out over time. At the same time, I don't ever see myself vaping in a restaurant for example, regardless of my "right" to do so. I still believe in not going out of my way to make others, to include non-smokers, uncomfortable. On the other hand, at work, while I do not vape in front of customers, my co-workers, who are absolute non-smokers have learned that vaping isn't smoking, and are quite comfortable sitting nearby while we talk and I vape.
Excellent response and advice. Plus by vaping publicly but respectfully you have the great opportunity to help someone else break their deadly smoking addiction. Just take the time to learn the in's & out's of vaping and what are some of the better models and suppliers. I have a small handout card(s) that I made up with suggestions (PV models, Nic strength) as well as several suppliers and of course the ECF web site.
I felt the same way as well. I felt insecured smoking in private but then again, you just overcome that fear.
I don't know if it's me coming from a small town, or all the oldschool hip-hop music I listen to, but I just dont care what anyone thinks of me. I vape in public bars, restaurants, stores, and malls without regard as it's not illegal and no one can stop me (muahahah lol). I do also enjoy joining smokers outside and educating them. we do need to educate the public (especially here in Canada alot of people have never even seen ecigs) so that they see that its not offensive like tobacco smoke. I give it 10 years before people are like, whats a cigarette?
I feel the same way you do, I can't bring myself to vape in any new places besides the ones I used to smoke at. I can see me vaping in a bar but darn vaping takes all my money! In all seriousness, we NEED awareness so I have break out of my shell.

There is, however, a fine line between that and being rude. If my vaping unneccessarily bothers someone, i dont mind stopping. But if they stare and try to give you judging looks, blow that cloud in their faces. Gotta learn to enjoy the little things, like vaping. And pissing people off if they bother you.

Lol I feel the same sometimes, but you would be suprised some people think it is some sort of drug device, but their curiousity can benefit them sometimes. People have asked me sometimes, "what is that?" and i eplain to them a bit about ecigs and many people want to try them but dont know where to start. Beleive it or not i carry some ecig and juice vendors cards they send in my wallet to give to them. Its a great way to spread the word and maybe save some lives in the process.
