Using old coils with new wick

Is it OK to unwrap a coil and use a new wick? I dry burned my Penelope and I'm getting a burnt flavor, but I haven't received my extra wires yet so I can only use what I have. Has anybody tried this with success?

That what I'm doing right now. My wires should be here tomorrow. But replacing just the wick and rewrapping the coil doesn't hurt.

I do it on my homemade rba. I use cotton yarn wick, and it's so cheap that, when I want to switch a new flavor, I wrap a new wick.
