Using P&C as wick.

I used it for about a week (couldn't get past the taste of it). I would cut about 5 feet off the roll, roll it up and tie it off and boil for 20 min. Cotton balls were better tasting to me, until I found that miracle that is Rayon.
Most will boil the said. I tried the same, last year. I moved on, as I did not care for the taste.
I didn't find P&C to be absorbent enough to make a good wick -- it either leaks, or if you use enough to keep it from leaking, then you get the nasty burnt taste of dry hits. Organic cotton balls really do make a HUGE difference -- and yes, as much as I've always thought that "organic" business was just hype, organic cotton balls beat regular cotton balls by a mile, in terms of taste.
But rayon is really the best possible, for *most* tanks or attys -- there are some exceptions, but not many.

You can get Rayon from Sally's Beauty Supply. (fun trip if your a guy going into a beauty store). But go in and ask for Cellulose Cotton. It will come in a large box, and I do mean large. You want to make sure it says 100% Rayon Fibers on the side, not 100% Cotton.
It's about $15 - $18 for the large box which is a life time supply.

I love my organic cotton balls but I'm going to have to try the rayon. I've only heard good things about it
Luckily my wife goes to Sallys so much they know her by name. I just got her to go pick up a box!

I bought it, I boiled it, I used it. And then moved on. It's okay for some applications, but as AndriaD mentioned, I didn't find it adsorbent enough for some purposes.
I preferred cotton and other "loose" fibers (lately it's been Rayon and Tencel Top) because the loose fibers are easier to work with, and I can control the density.

Only thing i would consider using anymore are the Japanese organic cotton pads! Better wicking and better consistency building your coils!
Just to give background im running this KayFun on a VTR 1.1 ohm and using the organic cotton wick should have gotten a pic before starting to use it but just wanted to try it out.Im using a local B@M version of ecto ecto juice they also do mail order and i have never had anything that wasn't good from them Avail vapor if you want to look them up.
I like it for rebuilding my Kanger heads. I boil it for about 20 mins. first. For my drippers and Kayfuns it's Koh Gen Do for me.
I'm running their pineapple upside down cake right now.....absolutely the best!!!
Wow, that's a great price on that site! I still have to get an ohm tester, but I'm really looking forward to trying my hand at rebuilding my Kanger heads, and I might just spring for a box of rayon as well as organic cotton, for comparison's sake. Thanks Andria!
